Camille Paglia on Hillary Clinton - 11/1999
"I want to fall on the floor laughing -- imagining Hillary Clinton working well in the Senate with everybody else! Oh, give me a break. I've already joked in print that they would need to build her a private cloakroom on the Mall. This is not a woman who has any ability to deal with the mass of humanity. She is the most arrogant, the most moralistic, the most sermonizing and annoying person on earth...." -- Feminist icon Camille Paglia

Wonder if she feels stupid now.

14. She certainly isn't, and she also has the same ironic hostility toward affirmative...
action as Clarence Thomas.
And for the same reason.

9. Apparently there is some bizarro world where loathing other women makes you a feminist
Paglia has quite a bit of company in that world, or so the media would make it seem.

8. you wonder if who feels stupid? Paglia or Clinton?
What have you seen that stands markedly against Paglia's assessment?
I agree Paglia was more condescending than required, but if you look at the basic criticism, is she that wrong?

-- not a woman who has any ability to deal with the Mass of humanity
-- arrogant, moralistic, sermonizing and annoying.

I will go along with the first, and pass on the second, but I could see where she arrived at that opinion.

26. Hillary did a fine job for the people of New York
So fine, that they re-elected her. And she was a great colleague in the senate.

32. I'll let you figure it out
Edited on Tue Nov-13-07 10:31 PM by sampsonblk
She has a 48% approval rating among New York Republicans. That's unbelievable. And 80% approval among NY Democrats. She's been kicking ass.

Highlights:

58% approval among NY evangelicals.
58% among current members of the military
50% among pro-lifers in NY

38. again, that doesn't answer my question. I asked what she did, and you quote
poll numbers.

HRC fans only seem to be able speak in polls or electability. Any questions relating to actual performance don't get answered.

I ask again: what did she actually do for her constituents?

being popular is not the same as doing something.

39. How does she get to be popular in New York without doing something for them?
You are going to have to supply your own curiosity. If you want to know why New Yorkers think she's done a lot for them, maybe you should ask them.

Fact remains, she's a transplant from down south. Yet she is adored in the state of New York for what's she's done for them in the Senate.

HRC fans seem unwilling or unable to discuss actual policies or actions, only popularity polls and electability (whatever that means)
you've done nothing but prove me correct.

She was humble in the Senate. She also didn't stand out much. That sort of disproves Paglia.

31. Read it.
"This is not a woman who has any ability to deal with the mass of humanity. She is the most arrogant, the most moralistic, the most sermonizing and annoying person on earth...."

To which the answer was "she was humble" IN THE FUCKING SENATE.

Therefore, my reply.

Outside that insiders club, she remains arrogant, moralistic, sermonizing and annoying.

50. She is a philosopher on gender and popular culture in Philly.
She idolizes the "perfect boy" like Byron, Elvis and Adonis. She is very much into butch gay men, and not into women, although a self-described bisexual. She hates weak women and weak men with a passion. She still uses Freud and poses in a black leather cat suit with a whip on her book jacket. That is Hurricane Camille.
