1. California's 2 largest cities have mayors who think adultery is a family value.
they must be graduates of the rudy giuliani school of love.

10. San Francisco is not one of Californias two largest cities. It's number 4.

14. I certainly don't judge a candidate on whether or not he is monogamous.
I leave that to cons. :eyes:

15. Thank you, Kenneth Starr
After the last 7 years, the freaking LAST thing I care about in public life is whether they aren't faithful in their marriages.

I really didn't care all that much when Clinton was in the White House.

New Dem Of The Week | August 31, 2006
New Dem of the Week: Gavin Newsom
San Francisco Mayor

Since his election in 2003, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has made great strides toward a lofty goal: providing healthcare access to all of the city's uninsured. The city has been gradually moving toward universal healthcare thanks to a series of initiatives such as the 1999 Healthy Workers program, the 2001 Health Care Accountability Ordinance, and the 2002 Healthy Kids program.

These plans, though extremely valuable and progressive, each provide for only a specific group, inevitably leaving others left uncovered. In fact, more than 82,000 San Franciscans lack health insurance. Often, they work for small businesses or are self-employed. They earn too much to qualify for Medi-Cal or Medicaid or too little to afford coverage on their own. Or they may have pre-existing conditions that prevent them from being insured.

In his 2005 State of the City address, Mayor Newsom boldly pledged to give every uninsured resident an opportunity to have access to health care. In February 2006, he created the Universal Healthcare Council to identify and quantify the needs of those approximately 82,000 people. In August 2006, Newsom took a major step toward his ultimate goal when he, along with Supervisor Tom Ammiano, signed into law the San Francisco Healthcare Access Plan (SF HAP).

This landmark legislation will provide comprehensive healthcare access to the thousands who do not yet have it. Though employment, immigration status, and pre-existing conditions will not affect eligibility, participants must be uninsured, live within San Francisco city limits, and be willing to apply for any state and federal health benefits for which they qualify.

7. I see a statewide office in his future. Governor? Senator?
Who knows? I'm sure it'll happen though.

8. Gov.
He could run in 2010. Senate he would have to wait until 2012 if Dianne doesn't run again.
