2. I look at a multitude of sources to see the candidate's record on the issues.
And if it has changed over time.

I rarely look at a candidates website even when my man Dean was running.

4. I think the sites that compare and conrast probably get more hits
For the purpose of online donations, they probably are important, but I think candidate position information goes out in other ways.

Lots of people don't want to do their own research, or don't have time to do it in depth, PLUS those sites that compare and contrast make it really easy to evaluate candidates.
