Have all or any of the 08 candidates commented on election reform or fixing voting machines?
I think Hillary and Obama have legislation about it (), but have they spoken up about protecting the votes and the machines? If so, are their any links or items to what the 08 candidates have said?

I am just asking because I don't have a candidate. No flames needed. :hi:

edit for spelling

1. The netroots - DU types - killed auditing of the 08 election - so there seems no hurry to return to
topic by anyone. Everyone is "for" better elections.

We had a chance - and we let Bev and friends kill the bill.

2. Hi -- here's a short YouTube vid showing Biden's take on it. It seems as

though he's given it a lot of thought and understands the seriousness.

This was on the fly -- he was on his way out of a coffee shop!

I have to confess I've just recently become more interested in this issue, so I'm interested to hear the how the other candidates feel so I can learn more about it.

Edited because I of course forgot to include the link. Here it is:

6. Biden also introduced legislation first in 1974 for public financing of elections
just FYI... you might want to look at other candidates besides the media-annointed "frontrunners." I know I'm biased but this race is wide open...

3. Barack Obama has an entry about votingrights and vote suppression on his website
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/votingrights/.

This is arguably the most important and pressing problem and the one that was used to get Bush elected twice.

There are serious questions concerning machines, but to this day no proof that votes have been stolen this way. However, there are numerous proofs and evidence that many people in Florida and Ohio have been prevented and intimidated out of voting.

4. Voting machines and their purchase and make or model is purely a state
or county issue. There are over 50,000 voting districts in this country. Why do we expect everything to be a Federal issue? Do we not understate the roll of states or are we on some Federalist trip?

15. Hava just provides the money, the states and counties make the decision on
machines. Thankful here in NY we will still be using the lever machines machines, at least in the primary.

They use optical scan paper ballots now.

ETA: He commented about this in a debate, too, that all states need to ditch DREs.

11. I would imagine Obama has some thinking on it as he taught constitutional law
it is said by fellow professors at chicago that he is very passionate about the constitution.
And, I am sure it's crossed his and others minds that the primaries could be rigged if things are not done to protect the voting process.
