2. Even if she did take all of these organizations money,
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 09:30 AM by cat_girl25
it doesn't mean she will be influenced by them when she is elected. :)

4. I believe these corporate business leaders throw $ where it will be most effective &
influential. There is a reason that candidates like Dennis Kucinich is NOT receiving major contributions from them.

5. I think they throw it to who they think have a better chance of winning.
I still say she'll take their money and run. It's not a law that she has to comply with their demands. She has to get the money from somewhere.

6. These are pretty savvy business men they are going to throw $ at a candidate who they
feel is not working in their best interests, regardless of chances-imho.

10. Exactly. Most people understand that candidates must raise millions of dollars
in order to run.

They also know it ain't gonna be virginal money.(Is there even such a thing?)

People know there will be piles of dirty, filthy, sexy money

Reasonable people know candidates will do their best to try and weed out the worst mob cash

Some get all worked up over this issue and it is a waste of time to devote so much

angst to it.

18. The lesser of two evils
Here we have another victim of the "lesser of two evils". Weeding out as much as possible still results in corporate monies that will make corporations request "favors" during whomever wins' presidency.

8. Wow
And some people don't want us to use the term "corporate whore"?
I don't get that at all.

If she were a Republican, they wouldn't object.

9. But what are you trying to say by cherry-picking opensecrets?
1) Haven't some selected industries that you did not cherry-pick have given ten times the amounts over the ones you did?

2) Of the ones you did cherry-pick, say if a group such as Nurses in the Health Care industry gave to Hillary, is this wrong? Are Nurses supposed to be Hillary's or Democrats enemy? X-ray technicians? Hospital administrators? Doctors? If not these, who is the enemy then?

12. I was responding to an earlier thread claiming Hillary wasn't # 2 in Healthcare,
so I focused on those industries related to Healthcare. Open sources can be used to look up a number of different industries, so if you like go to the site and search other industries-I gotta run.

peace.

11. If you take a good look, Dodd is getting some serious cash too
and I am pretty darn sure Dodd is staying in the Senate. Senators Clinton, Obama, Biden, McCain, Brownback need some $$$ to be Senators too - and I think Gilmore and Huckabee have a shot at their States' Repuke nominations for Senator.... So, you could look at this as trying to influence them as Senators more than potential Presidents

17. Don't let Obama off the hook

Only Kucinich and Gravel should be free from criticism here. Each of the other candidates will gladly go for corporations instead of the American people.

19. But I dont think the American people care anymore?
Like someone said above, if it were a republican, everyone would be destroying them but now that its all out in the open, its ok to accept bribes. I really don't know what issues most people are behind, why they support their candidates? Everything I see people complaining about here, is everything that Dennis Kucinich stands for but he doesn't count somehow? I don't understand the process of selecting the best candidate to be the president for the people of The United States of America as well as the others because I'm voting for Dennis Kucinich and they say that makes me crazy or stupid or something if I don't agree with their views?

I'm just going with the default and voting for the peoples interests and our constitution.

20. Nobody should stop you from "going with the default"
You and I, superkia, we need to unite here on Democratic Underground and keep pounding away at the Democrats who remain naive and ignorant to the whole scheme of things, the political situation.

I truly feel sorry for them. I am in no position to force them to look within themselves and question reality like I've done. But I feel compelled to make them do something. And that compulsion is frustrating as hell.
