Bush was irresponsible for not taking Al Qaeda seriously and ignoring the fabled Aug. 6th, 2001 Presidential Daily Briefing - Bin Laden Determined to Attack in U.S.

A July 2007 NIE states that Al Qaeda has rebuilt and is enjoying a safe haven in Pakistan. Barack Obama says in a speech he would strike at high-value targets if Pakistan is unable or willing. All hell breaks loose from the left and the right.

What am I missing here?

1. Obama is right.

Obama was attacked from all sides because of the following: the left never wants to engage in any military action and the right wants to find any reason to attack a Democrat who takes a strong stand. See how they have vilified John Edwards for standing up to the corporations.

I just find it odd that there is near universal contempt for Bush not recognizing the threat of Al Qaeda early on and yet plenty of loud voices here against actually stopping them.
