4. When you say that, all I can think is that you really don't know much
Edited on Sun Aug-05-07 10:36 PM by pirhana
about him at all.

He has accomplished so much in the last 34 years.
Civil rights, The violence against women's act, major smackdown of Bork, traveled all over the world since the 70's to work with world leaders, legislation for safety, security, ion batteries for cars, legislation to close prison camps . . . on and on.

Yeah - he does like to talk, but if you ever listened to him you would realize that he has alot to say.

edit to add - he just got UN peacekeepers to Darfur. (If you watched any of the debates, you would know how passionate he is about this)
And Mraps to our troops.

... and what he has to say is very worth listening to. He knows what he is talking about, unlike some of the other candidates.

2. I like Biden.
I can't for the life of me understand why so many people hate him so passionately. He seems like a genuinely good guy. Depending on how safe a (D) delaware is, I'd love to see him have some place in the next administration.

7. Anyone who has writen off Biden this early is making a huge mistake
Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 12:49 AM by draft_mario_cuomo
Remember, he is today where the eventual 2nd place finisher was at this time in 2003 (and a swing of just 3 points in Iowa would have likely changed the outcome of the primaries). Biden is a straight-shooter, the most experienced (in general. He has been in the senate for 30+ years) and knowledgeable on foreign policy, and very charming one-on-one. He came from nothing to become a senator. He is great for the retails politics Iowa and New Hampshire require.

12. I believe you're right. I hope he does well tomorrow night. At the AFL-CIO Summit.
Or Forum or whatever. It's at Soldier's Field in Chicago.

6. Delaware is safe
Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 12:44 AM by draft_mario_cuomo
Both its senators are Democrats, its governor (Democrats have retained this position for four consecutive terms), Lt. governor, attorney general (J. Biden's son), insurance commissioner, and treasurer are Democrats. I think the only elected cabinet position the Republicans have is state auditor. The major exception to this rule, though, is Mike Castle, who holds Delaware's House seat. However, he is a moderate Main Street Coalition Republican who was a popular two-term governor. Once he retires that seat will almost certainly become a Democratic seat.

I have met Biden a few times at events. He is indeed a genuinely good guy. Biden is one of the most "real" politicians you will ever encounter. He is a straight-shooter.

9. Delaware

The Republicans in Delaware HATE Senator Biden! As for Mike Castle,he is extremely popular with Delaware Democrats. I'm from Delaware and my husbands family are all repubs except for him and my husband gets into some very spirited "discussions" with his brother about Senator Biden.
Delaware is as you indicated a strong Democrat state.

11. Just curious
Why do you prefer Edwards to Biden? Really, nothing but curiosity, with no bad intent whatsoever.

Edited on Wed Aug-08-07 10:34 AM by coco77
and I would like to see him debate any of these republicons. I think that Biden gets angry because they are asking all of these simple bullshit questions in the debates and everyone is dancing around the answers. The only thing I don't like or trust about him is this bipartanship nonsense. Those neocons don't ever want to work together. If they do they always find a way to do some backstabbing. Especially, Spector.

24. You like the right guy. He's the best candidate running.
Don't mistrust Joe on his bi-partisanship. He and Chuck Hagel are very good friends and Hagel has turned against Bush on Iraq. I probably go back farther than you, when LBJ and Sam Rayburn ran the Senate and House they received bi-partisan cooperation from Everett Dirksen and Charley Halleck, the minority leaders and things ran very smoothly. You didn't have all the pettiness and dead ends you have today.
