My scenario re Cheney and 'heart surgery'.
CNN just said he's going in for surgery to replace his pacemaker battery.

He comes out and resigns for health reasons.
Bush** appoints GOP presidential hopeful (fill in the blank) as VP.

What do you think?

2. There's no way a majority-Dem congress would go for that.
Unless there was some wheeling and dealing going on--Chimpy ends war, we let your guy be confirmed.

3. No hopeful would take the job
*'s polls are so low that it would be professional suicide.

4. I don't think so; CNN earlier was downplaying this surgery; made it sound
more like replacing a battery in a flashlight, he'd be out the same day. Plus, I think Cheney is delighting in all the mayhem he's contributed to.

10. I THOUGHT there was something familiar about this street.
I know it has been speculated.
But now he's actually going in for a procedure and the opportunity presents itself.

7. I doubt it.
I have a funny feeling that Cheney is going to stay until the end of the tenure.

Vice President Cheney's high-tech pacemaker is working properly and has not been activated by any irregular heartbeats, according to his annual physical yesterday, which showed that his overall heart condition was stable.

9. Well, he's headed for Dubai anyway - he has to move there to
protect himself against litigation - just as Halliburton has done. Might as well recuperate in Dubai- look at the sea and relax early. Maybe handle special Halliburton jobs and his own businesses.

12. Based on earlier news, I thought it was a pacemaker replacement and
not just the batteries. (Sorry, no link)

We are dreaming if we think this poses an opportunity to impeach Bush without having Darth assume legitimate control.

Darth would NEVER remove himself from the sheild of "executive" privelege, now that he concedes his office is within the executive branch.

He has a true death grip on power.

I predicted LONG ago that he would abdicate to set up continued Rethug primacy -- didn't happen - so he is in it for the long haul.

If he goes -- Dubya is vulnerable if the replacement is less toxic than "The Dick."

13. Cheney has the best of medical care
the best pacemaker, the best, the best, the best. He'll come out feeling refreshed from his hospital stay, being waited on and eating delicious healthy food. You think he lives like a normal American?
