Who can stop Bush** from doing it?

1. Why would Bush care? With as much loyalty as he demands
from others, he is pretty quick to throw others under the bus if they can't help him and his friends collect all the money there is in the world for themselves.

3. I agree. He doesn't give a damn. He protected Karl. Karl protects him.
That's all that matters to Little Lord Pissypants. I'll tell you who is PISSED!!! Darth Cheney! Bet he's really thrilled that his boys are getting thrown in jail while Karl dances for the press! something tells me that's not going to go over very well.

2. I don't think you'll see Shrub pardon Scooter, at least not until Jan. 09!
It's very telling that Libby hired another atty who's expertiese is arguing cases before the SCOTUS. He knows he's on his own here.

4. Yep. The Scoot-boy will be pardoned before the end of July.
Bush can do anything he wants, there is no power in this country (or anywhere else) that can touch him and he knows it. Karl is just waiting for the right moment. It will be sometime between this weekend and the end of the first weekend in August - the doldrums. As soon as something breaks to distract attention (like that new terrorist attack that has been predicted)...

6. I don't really see why he wouldn't.
Those guys are way past worrying about approval numbers or "appearances". Even Congressional Repubs don't seem to have much influence on him. What are they going to do, threaten to vote for impeachment if he pardons? Which is the worse scenario for them?

They could promise to vote for his immigration bill if he doesn't pardon, but he'd probably then pardon Libby the day after he signs the bill anyway.

And if there's any doubt, all Libby has to do is threaten to go searching for some more meeting notes to motivate George to get the pen out.

The only thing I have heard that might stand in the way is that supposedly if he gets pardoned then he can't plead the fifth and would have to testify some more. Not sure how accurate that is though.
