First Rasmussen poll since Dem debate: Clinton regains lead over Obama
Edited on Mon May-07-07 11:05 AM by wyldwolf
In the first poll completed since the Democratic Presidential hopefuls met in South Carolina to debate, New York Senator Hillary Clinton has regained the lead in her quest for the White House. The former First Lady now enjoys support from 34% of Likely Democratic voters and an eight percentage point lead over her nearest rival.

Illinois Senator Barack Obama is now the top choice for 26%, a six-point decline compared to a week ago. Obama had gained ground on Clinton for five straight weeks prior to the debate and held a two-point lead on the eve of the debate. The freshman Senator admitted he was nervous before the South Carolina event and some critics thought he stumbled in responding to some foreign affairs questions. Obama remains essentially even with Clinton among men but trails significantly among women.

Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards remains in third place with 16% support. Edwards support has remained remarkably stable for several months. His support has stayed in a very narrow range, 15% to 17%, for nine of the past ten surveys. No other Democrat attracts more than 3% support.

But you won't tell what I posted that was incorrect. Are you playing a game trying to discredit me?

19. ..and here are a few things you've written
... your constant insistance the DLC sets the policy for the Democratic party.

Or how about stating Hilary Rosen, a Hillary supporter, agreed with Tucker that Howard Dean was dumb? It never happened.

Your constant reliance on "unnamed" sources.

24. Do you trust Rasmussen?
You mock someone who trusts them in another thread.

What do you think of them?

For the record,I think they suck...but I feel that way about all polls. They're simply another tool for manipulation.

28. So when some hang on to Rasmussen...
Like a warm blanket, using it to comfort themselves when other polls don't show what they want, shouldn't come whining when Rasmussen too starts showing the same thing..

(not including you Forkboy)

30. He's had some bad calls though...
I don't think he is any more reputable than other pollsters. I'm not one to trash his polls, but they are not the only reputable ones out there...

And the larger point is, if the trend continues and Hillary takes a substantial lead in the Rasmussen polls as well, will some who have been hanging on to them as the "only" accurate polls in the Democratic race suddenly turn on him.

31. In think people put too much faith in polls.
As I said, they're used as a tool to manipulate. It's almost a form of peer pressure (which works on adults just as effectively as children),as if to say,"Look,my guy (or woman) is ahead! You don't want to be with the losers...do you?"

I honestly wish people wouldn't cling to any polls. It's foolish to place any kind of beliefs or hopes on such shifting sands.

However,Wyldwolf is correct...live by the polls, die by the polls.

And I hope people relaize the whining has come from all sectors so far when a disagreeable poll has come out.Politics 101 - The only good poll is the one that agrees with me.

Feh.
