Spread the word far and wide - LET THE VETO STAND
Bush defunded the war.
Its over.
Don't send him another supplemental.
Work on other matters like veterans healthcare.
No more money for the war.
Bring the troops home by July 2007 when the money runs out.

1. Hell no! We're not buying that fucking train wreck--it's all Chimpy's
and the GOP's. Give the baby what he wants.

9. I am the wife of a serviceman. And my husband will get sent
to Iraq regardless of this supplemental--the permanent bases are being built, and we're not totally leaving--that's reality--it's even part of the benchmarks. I refuse to accept that the Democratic party will own, and get blamed for, the inevitable bad ending of this war.

11. Without this supplemental the money runs out in July.
Bush just ended his own occupation. And I apologize for my prior post...I was unaware you are from a military family. In terms of leaving permanently..we have to keep the pressure on our Party. Let them know the occupation is wrong. Let them know every day if that is what it takes.

13. That's OK--I just don't think de-funding is the way to go. That's why the
GOPers keep taunting Dems to do it--they would LOVE it--we'd get blamed for EVERYTHING, and then there goes '08. Dems are queasy about it for a reason--we've seen how this movie ended before, with Vietnam.

14. The Dems did not defund...Bush did with his veto.
Our leadership just needs to say that everytime there is a camera pointed at them.

15. I agree. But another bill wil be sent--we know that already, so it's moot.

16. Hopefully those reports are in error.
I would love to give Pelosi and Reid the benefit of the doubt. But if they resubmit a bill without timetables we truly have lost our country.

12. I'm sorry I don't agree
We can't give the baby what he wants. It makes us complicit with his war.
We need to end the war.
He just decided to veto his own funding.
Let him live with his decision.

2. and what happens if the money doesn't run out? Just thinking ahead.
Does that mean that he lied?

As far as your OP, I agree. He had his chance and his response was to defund the occupation of Iraq.

4. Well you're right that its likely there are lies in the funding
But I'm still not inclined to give him another bite of the apple.
What do you suggest

5. I'm with you on the whole thing. Just adding in that IF the money doesn't run out, he will again be
shown to be a lying liar. I disagree with pulling the extra bits and sending it back. He vetoed it, fuck him. End the occupation of Iraq NOW, or rather July. Now would be good but July would work also.

6. There's a symmetry to July
The Iraqi government will be on vacation.
If they can't be bothered to work through the summer, why the hell should the US troops be there.

The same thought passed my mind watching him make his little drunken rant tonite. Fuck you George, that was your only chance. Plan the retreat.

17. actually, according to the polls, a majority is opposed to defunding
A majority supports funding with a timetable by a 64/32 margin, but if that doesn't occur, the majority flips, with a 56/36 majority favoring funding without a timetable
