Bush 'very worried' on Iran nukes

TIPP CITY, Ohio (UPI) -- President George W. Bush said Thursday he is "very worried about a nuclear arms race in the Middle East."

Taking questions after a speech at Tippecanoe High School in Tipp City, Ohio, Bush again called on Iran to stop its program of nuclear fuel enrichment.

"Iran is a serious problem," he said. "This is a nation that has said they want to have a nuclear -- or we believe wants to have a nuclear weapon."

Bush said Iran doesn't "need a nuclear weapon," and once again called on the international community to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

"I'm very worried about a nuclear arms race in the Middle East," he said.

Bush also repeated his intention to veto any bill Congress passes that attaches conditions to funding for the U.S. war in Iraq.

"First, I think it's a mistake -- and I've made it clear -- that the Congress should not have artificial timetables for withdrawal in a funding statement," he said.
