3. He desperately wants to be President
He plays around with the idea of switching parties in 2001, then decides to stay a Repub, and then develops an extremely conservative voting record to curry favor with the side he has decided to stick with.

How can anyone believe he can remotely be called independent anymore? Hopefully, the press will start laughing at the "Straight Talk" label.
