My personal DU GD2004 survival guide
If I say "the people are sheep for voting on electability," I must be supporting Kucinich or Sharpton.

If I claim to be socialist or far left, I must be supporting Kucinich or Sharpton.

If I think a candidate is responsible for all his fundraisers' actions, I must not be supporting Dean, Kerry, Clark, Sharpton or Edwards.

I know that the media have played the "pauperize then kingmake" with Kerry, and played the inverse with Dean--they love to bring nothing up to top and then smash top back to nothing.

I know that the media have marginalized and ridiculed Clark, Kucinich and Sharpton.

If I say I will leave the country if X is the nominee, I must be posting from abroad, since clearly a Clinton, Gore or Bush candidacy would hardly meet my expectations.

If I say candidate X is the same as Bush, I am using criteria that probably do not include views on policy or history in office.

If I want to move the country left but refuse to support the nominee against Bush, I either believe working towards this goal would be easier under a Bush administration than under a Democratic administration, or that it's better to punish the Democrats than the Republicans.

Let me know if I forgot any. ;-)

1. LOL, well I was hoping for at least a laugh or a lock
Watching it sink a second time will be fun, though. :)

2. Excellent Post
And if I make "All Candidate X is, is _________" generalizations, I think the Republicans are in need of more and better talking points with which to fool the gullible.

All Dean is, is angry.

All Kerry is, is a patrician rich guy.

All Kucinich is, is an unelectable pie-in-the-skier.

All Edwards is, is a veiled Repub trial lawyer.
Etc
etc
etc
etc
etc

5. Kucinich is not a pie-in-the-sky-er
He's a DLC operative that is in the race to strip liberal votes from Howard Dean. C'mon people, let's get with the program already! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

But I totally agree with your post, except for that one point!

6. If
If I say "I do not support any candidate" the next thing you hear will be a recitation of a Republican wedge issue.

As if not supporting any Democratic candidate is some kind of badge of honor that excuses anything. :eyes:

7. Good post. Here's another one.
Phrases like "I'm confused," "Please help me understand this," "I have to get this off my chest," and "I want to like candidate X, but" are inevitably followed by smears that make Protocols of the Elders of Zion look like it was written by B'nai Brith.

11. Well, if it is, the rules aren't very strictly enforced.
I still see this kind of thing all the time.

has actually been the #1 Dean supporter line of late. This Kucinich supporter has a lot more respect for the voters than that.
