The Rethug senators are Pounding the Stake in, and they Know It.

The Rethuglican Senators fully realize that they are nailing the stake into their own political hearts, but this is what extremists and fanatics do, they'd rather die than face the harsh reality of their actions. Those actions being unwavering extremist support of Bush.
They are Buying BUSH time by filibustering, because they know that their fate is directly tied to Buscho's, and the longer they can draw out this non-binding resolution, the less time that real issues will be covered like Cooked Intelligence, Plame Gate, Illegal Wiretaps, etc...

In one way, I understand the resolution sets a benchmark, but at the same time democrats could be upping the stakes Limiting Bush's dictatorial power.

Rethugs know this, and this is why they are drawing this out.

They are buying time to saves their own skins, if that's even possible.
