Analysis of C-Span Congressional Iraq Debate (on now)
Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 12:34 PM by IsItJustMe
I see it like this.

The Democrats are appealing to common sense, intelligence, and rationality. They say, “Folks, this sh!t ain’t working, and more of the same will never work. Folks, when in a hole, quit digging. Folks, don’t spend good money after bad money ”.

The Republicans seem to be using fear and emotionalism as there arguments. There arguments seem to be, “Folks, remember the Alamo (WTF?). Folks, in order to honor those dead American soldiers, many more have to die.”

I believe, for what it’s worth, that facts are stubborn and will eventually win out over misguided patriotism.

1. The rethugs keep saying
"We send a wrong message to our enemies", an enemy that we can't define. How is rejecting this clown in the WH that started this mess in the first place sending the wrong message. The Iraq's don't want us there, we've envaded them and not the other way around. Bush and these republican lap dogs in congress have no idea of what winning means. Their talking points are all the same, rehearsed like the zoombies they are.

2. It's hard to send the wrong message when you don't know what the message was going into Iraq.
Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 12:49 PM by IsItJustMe
Let's see:

WMD
9/11 and terrorist ties in Iraq
Democratize Iraq

The simple fact of the matter is, you can never accomplish a mission when the mission was never clearly stated or understood to begin with.

I am sure the Iraqis already know this, we don't even know the message and they can't be anymore confused than we already are.

3. Too bad more people don't watch C-Span
If they did, a lot of these Republicans would have been voted out of office long ago. I never watched before this, but after seeing the debate these past few days, the contrast is really striking to me between the Democrats, who are using facts and showing logic, common sense and compassion, and the Republicans, who are sticking to their ignorant talking points.
But, to quote Stephen Colbert, "Facts have a well-known liberal bias."

4. Sometimes watching CSPAN
can be the hardest channel to watch, especially when you hear the republican
callers that represent decendants of the "JONESTOWN MASSACRE".

5. I agree, their stupidity is scary
It is really eye-opening!!
While I didn't see this myself, someone told me that one of them referred to Davy Crockett as using a Blackberry.
And the Alaska rep used the phony Abraham Lincoln from the lying Washington Times columnist.
