Okay, That's It, I've Had It!

Okay, That’s It, I’ve Had It!
By Nancy Greggs

I will get RIGHT TO THE POINT. The alleged president is out of control, perhaps to the point of outright insanity, and every single one of you so-called representatives of our nation knows it.

For years we have been bogged down in an obvious quagmire in Iraq, and as we spend billions and continue to lose American lives, Iraqi lives, the respect of the world and the support of our traditional global allies, you have sat on your hands and done nothing other than cheerlead the madness and couch the insanity in words like patriotism, spreading democracy, and pursuing a victory you cannot even define, no less achieve.

While you have been playing politics, the country has been made less safe, terrorism is not only increasing but flourishing, and anti-American sentiment around the world is so off-the-scale, it is beyond being measurable.

I rightfully hold those who have controlled the House and the Senate during the majority of the Bush years responsible for rubber-stamping every whim of their unclothed emperor, for abandoning whatever morals they may have had once had, for replacing common sense with whatever idiocy their feckless leader proposed, and for placing unfettered – and illegal – power into the hands of a man who has proven, time and time again, his mind-boggling incompetence and inability to successfully lead a nation.

And I will now rightfully hold the newly elected powers-that-be to the same standard.

You so-called representatives of the citizenry have not only failed to exercise your responsibilities of oversight, but have taken the further step of ensuring that the colossal mistakes made in Iraq may well now be repeated with respect to Iran – only this time with even deadlier consequences.

Our treasury is depleted, we are in debt that will take not years but generations to repay, our basic infrastructure is at risk of total collapse, our jobs are disappearing, our economy is teetering, and our Constitution is in tatters. And in the midst of this already tragic situation, an inept, narcissistic idiot – the puppet of an equally disconnected-from-reality neocon cabal – rattles his saber at another yet country in a way that is all too familiar.

If you do not recognize the ratcheting up of the rhetoric currently being directed at Iran, you are obviously too deaf to be in office. If you do not see the similarities between the lead-up to the debacle that has mired us in Iraq and the foundation of deceit that is currently being built with respect to Iran, you are too blind to fulfill your responsibilities. If you cannot smell the stench of dead bodies, nor taste the bitterness of yet another certain defeat – at the cost of even more hundreds of thousands of lives – you are obviously too bereft of intelligence to serve your nation.

Who am I to speak? I am an American citizen. And despite your best efforts over the past six years to diminish my rights, marginalize my beliefs, dismiss my concerns, and banish me to the
realms of irrelevance, I assure you that I will prevail – because I have right on my side, and because my fellow citizens are with me.

For those of you who were in D.C. over the past weekend, you might have noticed that we, the populace who are fed up with your mindless complacency, are legion. We are not silenced by your threats against our freedom to speak, but are made all the louder. We are not rendered paralyzed by your inaction, but are emboldened to act. We are not intimidated by your reticence to do right by our nation, but are prompted to display, in no uncertain terms, our intention to do right by each other as Americans, despite your total lack of interest in doing right by anyone but yourselves.

The insanity of this administration, its policies, and it goals – all so blatantly slavish to the purposes of an ideology that has proven itself to be as unrealistic as it is corrupt – has to end. And it has to end NOW.

You may be content to tell your children and your grandchildren that you stood by and did nothing while your country fell prey to madness, and how its democracy eventually died in the flames of a worldwide conflagration that you allowed to be ignited. But I, and my fellow citizens, are not.

We will instead tell our descendants of how we marched, protested, blogged, petitioned, emailed, spread the word in any and every way possible – how we, the citizens of what was a once proud nation, did not go willingly into the abyss, despite the fact that our so-called leaders sheepishly followed the ultimate Judas Goat without so much as a whimper.

You have betrayed the trust of those who elected you, shattered the faith of those who believed in you, and destroyed the beliefs of those who entrusted you with speaking out on their behalf – the very thing you promised to do, above all else, the day you were sworn into office.

We who are about to die do not salute you. We instead point to your willingness to betray your fellow citizens, your eagerness to set your country on the path to destruction, and your total apathy in the face of both.

Your treachery knows no bounds, and neither does my utter disgust.

Very well said. kicked and recommended. Chimpy won't listen, but maybe the message will get through enough people's heads to make that fact irrelevant.

For the sake of this country, I hope so.

4. Bush is clearly insane and should be removed from office
Pelosi should put impeachment back on the table before Bush gets us involved in another war in Iran, a war that will make Iraq seem like a picnic.

Cheney must be impeached on the basis of high crimes he committed while in office, while Bush can be removed by having him declared mentally incapacitated.

37. * needs medical help...
let's invoke the 25th Amendment....much less messy than impeachment and I think more palatable to the other repugnants.

* has begun drinking again (due to the stress of the War) and requires immediate Rehab.

I believe the country and the world would welcome this solution to the World's problem.

Of course why he ignored those warnings is another issue,
one that needs investigation.

53. I'm sort of sorry I missed Preznint Corky on 60 Minutes
and some of the other shows recently. I've read, here and elsewhere, that he now comes across as an absolute nutjob out of touch with all reality. I just can't stomach the sight of him anymore, or the sound of him reading his prepared speeches, a word at a time, like some dingus campaigning for 6th Grade class president.

I agree with every word you wrote, and every thought you expressed. We have been given the tools to impeach an out of control, unbalanced president, now why don't we use them? I'd like for all of our politicians to answer that question. No, I DEMAND that they explain why they are willing to let the U.S. be destroyed for one idiot's ego. Again, Nancy, you rock!:yourock:

we have a psychopath in the White House who not only believes in Armageddon, but thinks that God has called on him to help bring it about . . . we have three carrier task forces in or heading for the Middle East, and U.S. bases surrounding Iran . . . all indications are that this crazy person is about to attack yet another sovereign nation that poses no immediate threat, yet Congress proceeds with "business as usual", seemingly waiting for the bombs to start dropping . . .

With Molly Ivins in declining health, Nancy Greggs is more than fit to carry on. Why someone hasn't offered her big bucks for a syndicated column is up for questioning.
Keep sending Nancy's musings to the major newspaper publishers. Maybe they'll understand a majority of those who read newspapers do not support a fascist dictatorship headed by a stumbling bumbling treasury looter and abetted by Satan's spawn.

Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 05:07 PM by petgoat
That was my plan if, after the people spoke, they preferred W
to Kerry.

Then I found about the crooked voting machines. I found about the
9/11 coverups. I found about Peak Oil. I found that my country was
in danger of fascism, and there was no place in the world I could
hide if the world's sole superpower went fascist.

If the Bushists aren't stopped, in ten years we'd be fighting them
in Canada--they'd invade on some flimsy pretext to seize the shale oil
and northern mineral resources.

We need you here.

I believe that the most important decision our new Congress will have to make is whether or not to proceed with removing these thugs from office. I realize that they're undertaking investigations that could lead to that -- but I just don't know whether or not they will be ready to proceed with the obvious implications of what those investigations will turn up (most of which is already public knowledge). They damn well better be, or else things are going to get very ugly.

Here's a snip of a suggestion I've not yet posted in GD but will over the next few days. . .

"Consider trying this out for a mantra. . .

"I co create with spirit that all those leaders who don't hold the greater good for ALL as their absolute top priority, be exposed and stripped of all their power-pronto."

Rinse and repeat.

We, the people, are sick tired of living in a country that has morphed into being of the corporations, for the corporations, and by the corporations, benifiting ONLY the presumed "who's who of the chosen few,"

Let's fix it with our hearts AND minds or at least try."

Let the conversation begin????

re the current situation, it began in 2000
never mind such additional 'past' conversation, like having been seeking a newer world since 1968, etc.

Enough talk. Enough chat.
Enough pseudo-PR-corporate leadership.
