Jim Webb has done our country a great service
His speech was one of the best we have heard since the great speeches given by Bill Clinton. It is amazing that the president had many people help write his speech that had no meaning at all. But Webb's speech, written by himself & obviously reflecting what was in his heart, blew the president away. I don't believe there was ever a year in our country's history where the State of Union address by the president was upstaged by a speech coming right after.

But Jim Webb has not only done a great service to our country by his great speech. He also made sure that we got rid of George Allen & more importantly him making a successful attempt at a presidential run. It may sound a bit far fetched but I think Jim Webb should run for president. It is never to late. Bill Clinton's started his campaign 12 weeks before the primaries. I believe Jim Webb can win red states in the Republican south as a presidential candidate. After 6 years of mind numbing dumb speeches by George Bush the people can look forward to Jim Webb. The Republican party must be very worried. They know every other candidate we have up front will have problems winning red states. But I do not believe Jim Webb will have to same problem. He will not win all but he will win enough to take the WH.

1. His speech was so good
that limbaugh had to blather about Webb's hair being messed up; (??) and that he tried to make his voice sound deep. Now I know why people listen to the draft dodger, for thoughtful and insightful commentary.

For all the reasons you mention, I think Webb would make a great VP candidate, or SECDEF in the Clark Administration. But, much moving and shaking will occur in the next 18 months.

2. Webb is the best thing to happen
to the Democratic Party in years. We need Webb in the Senate.
We need more like him in the House and Senate. Forget the
Presidency. Hillary is fast creating "Inevitabilty" by soaking
up the Money Race. Over the years to come it is going to
be much more important for us to have good Senators amd Congressmen.
Divided Goverment. Republican Presidents and Democratic
House and Senate --if we show we can govern. Webb will do much
more good for us in Senate and we should focus of developing
strong senate and house.
