As a Dean supporter, I'd like to thank Kerry
I'd like to thank Kerry for getting out in front and taking the brunt of the media and WH flak for the past few weeks. It's been nice to have the heat off of Dean for a little bit.

To show my gratitude, when Dean becomes the new "comeback kid" after February 17th, and Democrats for all time refer to the Wisconsin primary as the "Miracle on Ice: 2004", I promise not to gloat. :D

Aww, I'm probably just kidding myself.

All kidding aside, I'm absolutely thrilled to see a Democrat looking like he's going to trounce * in the GE. This still describes all of them.

2. Cool!
It's all about getting shrub out of office. I would have voted for any of them as well (although I'm glad that it looks like it's going to be Kerry).

I hope Dean sticks around till March 2nd. He deserves to compete in CA and Ny.

3. I'd like to see them all stay in
the longer our primary goes on the longer the press stays focused off *. Right now all he is doing is getting negative press. It would really bury him right now if another candidate would win another of the primaries. Go Clark Go Dean

5. I recently donated to Dean based on similar thinking.
Keep 'em guessing, and keep his voice in there for at least a little while longer, I think, is worth it.

I must say, though, I am learning to enjoy the discomfort that * & co seem to be undergoing when confronted with the prospect of an actual veteran. maybe that *is* the ticket for winning this one. Kerry/Edwards, if it can't be Dean/Clark.

6. When this is all over
:grouphug:

and the Democratic candidate has been chosen, I hope the non-nominees (note that I refrain from calling them "losers")* will band together and work to make sure that the next President is a Dem.

I hope the runners up will be given important positions in the Administration, if they wish them. They would make great Cabinet members

* because each is a winner

16. I think the non-nominees (good phrase) will --
and I'm equally sure a lot of the non-nominees' supporters won't. Thanks to the dirty tricks we've all seen play out against some of our anti-establishment candidates.

Just a guess.

And of course I'd be thrilled with Kucinich. :D

Nice post.

A breath of fresh air actually. And if Dean can pull this out, I'll be contributing $ and time to get him elected!

10. What hostile fire has Kerry been taking?

Has he had his every utterance dissected and analyzed for some possible negative meaning, the way Dean did? Kerry is floating along above it all, untested. I'm scared to think about what will happen when the GOP smear machine gets ahold of him.

Oh well.

11. Don't let a newspaper blow up and smack you in the face
:eyes:

Please at least give the news a cursory look before you delcare someone to be free from hostile fire. There are myriad attack pieces dealing with everything to his wife not funding his campaign(!) to a picture taken with Jane Fonda.

12. Oh, gee, yeah, those are such 'horrible' attacks, such
monstrous fire, such . . . BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Hate to break it to you, once the RETHUG slime machine gets going, you'll think this is a slumber party.

And the accusation that I don't read newspapers? Oh please give me a fucking break already. Having been in the line of fire with my candidate, I've learned what a 'real' attack is. (Such an accusation is really going to win me over to your side, BTW.)

:eyes::crazy::eyes:

14. In comparison to what Dean suffered from the mainstream
corporate media, Kerry has been untouched. Untested. That is my standard for 'hostile fire' and Kerry hasn't come close to suffering it.

You may be ultra sensitive to negative stories about your candidate. I can't help that. Too bad your ultrasensitivity blinds you to the political reality that Kerry is unprepared for what is coming should he become the Democratic candidate. Calling me a 'liar' doesn't change that fact.

(Saying that someone is willing to 'bend the truth' is the same as calling someone a 'liar' on this board, BTW. Just in case you didn't know.)

Take a look back in the archives during the months when Kerry was the frontrunner last year. Feel free to report what you find. I have seen the entire primary unfold, from when each candidate declared his or her interest. I have watched the media stories. What was done to Dean was done to the frontrunner at other times. The scream was blown out of proportion, yes, but he gave them a gift-wrapped video with which to define him in a Maureen Dowdish fashion. They WANTED to paint Dean as "oh he's just angry", and so of course they pounced on the scream--the media pauperized Kerry for firing campaign managers, having expensive hair, for their own ignornace about his service in Vietnam, his medal-throwing, his stance ont he war, etc. I've given a lot of money to Dean, but I won't make up a conspiracy when the evidence isn't there. There is and has been plenty of negative media coverage of Kerry, ranging from wife smears to the most minute definitions. Have a nice day. :hi:

17. Well, at least you're willing to admit that
Dean got done dirty. I can respect that.

Howeever, I cannot find anything in the Kerry attacks equivalent to this: before the Iowa caucuses, the mainstream media dug up a video of Dean calling Iowa caucus-goers "extremists". Taking the quote completely out of context, and helping to destroy Dean's chances in Iowa.

They played "gotcha" with the Doctor in a way that isn't in any way comparable to the mild stories about Kerry.

My problem with Kerry is that when it counted, when it mattered to me as a Democrat, Kerry wimped out, hid behind Bush's poll numbers, and did nothing to differentiate himself as anything but Bush-lite.

Now that Dean has taken the heat and blazed the trail, Kerry is reaping the rewards. I'm sorry, but that just pisses me off.

Peace.
