1. How about we attack an Iranian Consulate in Kurd territory..
Or, we *ahem* accidently shoot down an Iranian airliner (an oldie but a goodie)
Or, one of our ships is *ahem* attacked by a zodiac loaded with explosives.
Or, one of our spy planes is shot down over Iran (another oldie but goodie)

2. Only way the neocons & their puppet avoid responsibility it to create war
They put our troops in the line of fire and force us to maintain them instead of taking the junta down.

Line from movie Mary Mary:
'Some people are so good at making the best of a bad situation, they go around creating bad situations to make the best of.'

Sums their M.O. up rather well.

One would hope there was enough brass in the Brass to tell them 'No, we do not have the means to fight any more wars you chicken hawks start. We won't invade!'

One would hope, but one would be unwise to hold one's breath.

4. The brass HAVE told them. They told them that

it would take more troops in the beginning, but Rummy had his wonderful ideas about mechanized war, fewer troops. They told them that it will NOT help to escalate now. The neo-con chickenhawks and their chickenhawk pets simply will not listen to people who know what the hell they're talking about.

The American people voted out enough Republicans to create a Democratic Congress because they want to end the war. Only 26% of Americans support the present policy. The chickenhawks aren't listening to us, either.

6. Not talking brass telling them they don't have the troops
Talking: Brass telling them NO, we will not follow that illegal order, and backing it up with Congress calling the shots. It WILL take a Constitutional Crisis to stop the madness. Hell, we HAVE a Constitutional Crisis, but nobody in D.C. has been addressing it as yet. The fact that DEMS on the Hill are starting to address the crisis is EXACTLY the reason the junta is starting another war. The only way they know to save their own sorry asses is to put others in harms way and make that the more immediate need.

My fears are the RW-fundy xian nut cases in the top ranks of the Air Force. They can start a crusade from 50,000 feet and leave the other services fighting for their lives. And there are many who seem just crazy enough to do that.

Watching the junta creating disasters to get and keep power makes me believe all the more in MIHOP in the matter of that morning in Sept of 01. Without big fights to engage the national psyche (and resources) the neocon junta is NOTHING.

They have committed so many crimes, they will have to keep creating more disasters to protect themselves from being hauled to prison.

7. So you're talking about a

military coup? With Congessional backing? Or do I misunderstand?

There IS a problem with the Air Force, though I don't know how extensive it is. When the Ted Haggard (Haggerty?) scandal broke, I read that his church was visible from the Air Force Academy, used AF colors of silver and blue, and (surprise!) attracted many cadets. If that church believes in the Rapture, and those cadets follow that belief, that's not good for the Air Force. I fear they (Rapture/ End Times-are-near believers) are capable of behaving like jihadists. It's foolishness to be overly concerned with speculation about when the world will end and a perversion of Christianity to want to bring the End Times on prematurely, to try to force the Second Coming of Christ.

8. Talking about Congress backing sanity and reality
While the thought of a military coup has ALWAYS been the Bogey man in my closet, scaring the shit out of me, one might address the reality that we have ALREADY had a coup in America.

I am talking a legal counter coup, with the lawful backing of the other branches of government, to subdue the imperial executive branch from further war until lawful investigations into their past actions can be completed.

We are a nation of laws. Only, that hasn't been the case since fall of 2000. I am talking a restoration.

As to problems in the Air Force:

It was an Air Force general that called the current war a 'crusade' He was NOT smacked down.

For several years, there have been complaints about religious hounding of students at the Air Force Academy. One female chaplin was charged with conducting an investigation. Her findings that, yes, there has been evangelizing and harassment of cadets, with some veiled threats, were squelched. Her feelings that the issue must be brought to light were so strong that she resigned her commission so she could actually speak about it publicly. She threw away a long military career to speak truth to power. We need more like her.

We need some with the brass to speak truth to Congress without resigning their commission. We need the Congress to back them and restore the Constitution and laws in this nation.

9. A restoration is definitely needed.

I will never forget 12/12/2000, a day that will live in infamy. It gave me the same feeling as 11/22/63 did but there was no Walter Cronkite, just talking heads saying that democracy had prevailed, after weeks of talking about a Constitutional crisis. We need Congress to restore the Fairness Doctrine, among many other things.

3. They can be counted on to deliver us their evil - that's for sure and
it means that some in our military have conspired with them. One thing we know, is that a certain number of citizens will buy the lie.

There is a lateral possibility. The U.S. has clearly sided with the Shia in Iraq. Iranians are mostly Shia. Could the U.S. and Iran have an agreement to ???????

Why side with the Shia? Because they are in the south where there is more oil? Is it as simple as that. (Assumes we will work out things with the Kurds in the north who also have oil.)

Why talk about oil - the PNAC group is going to go all the way to get that oil as originally intented.

5. The odd thing is that the Saudis are Sunni, and they

are our friends and allies (think "Bandar Bush.")

I fear it's just about the rich getting richer and that explains why the Saudis aren't raising hell about what's happening to their fellow Sunnis in Iraq, nor inviting them all over to Saudi Arabia, as far as I know. Many Iraqis have fled the country but seem to be going to Jordan and Syria.
