We need a sanity and education adjusted poll.
The head-to-head polls and approval rating polls could be a lot better if there were some way to exclude the insane and unintelligent/uneducated. It seems like you could just collect sufficient information while taking the poll in the normal way.

For example:

1. Do you approve or disapprove of the job George W. Bush is doing as president?

2. Do you always approve of any president? Disapprove?

3. What is the square root of 4?

4. Should the United States just drop nuclear weapons on the entire Middle East?

Then you could report something like:

Un-adjusted poll results: 30% approve of Bush
Adjusted for sanity: 21% approve of Bush
Adjusted for education/intelligence: 14% approve of Bush
Adjusted to remove "always approve/disapprove": 12% approve of Bush
Adjusted for sanity, education, and always approve/disapprove : 9% approve of Bush

2. You seem to feel that the opinions of stupid and crazy people don't matter
Their votes count just as much as anyone else's, unfortunately.

3. President Eisenhower could not grasp statistics.
President Eisenhower was horrified when someone told him that one-half of all American school children were below average. If he could not understand that concept, what hope is there left? None.
