Could this be why Bush put off making his 'new' plans for Iraq known earlier?

I wonder if he was waiting for them to execute Hussein knowing the country would go to hell and that maybe his 'surge' would look better to us? Or that executing Hussein would look like something 'positive' and therefore the American public would be more likely to support his 'new' plan? (the new plan which pretty much looks like it is going to be exactly like what they have been doing all along, only with more soldiers)

I don't know. I do know he seems to have been waiting for this before he trotted out stay the course pumped up.
I do think the surge is to get more people in there permanently to position them in anticipation of invading Iran.

happens over there. it promises to be a real dog & pony show. and of course we'll hear the phrase 'saddam executed by iraq' until some even believe it.
