MSM: Try to hang onto your last shrinking vestige of credibility in upcoming elections
Edited on Thu Dec-28-06 06:48 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
I have learned from the last Presidential election cycle. I will TURN OFF any pundit or talk show who starts talking about how a candidate "looks" or "seems" :

"Presidential"

According to whom?

I will also turn off any pundit or show who starts talking about "electability" as though they had any freaking idea about what they are talking about. I don't want this year's version of "soccer moms" or "nascar dads" who were just figments of the imaginations of bloviating media consultants in the first place.

I will NOT watch any media pundit, show, or talk show host who strives to stigmatize a candidate with denigrating sobriquets -(strangely, they only seem to do this to Democrats)like:

"Breck Girl"
"Lurch"
"Vulcan"

etc.

I want to hear ISSUES! Do you hear that ? ISSUES! What do they stand for? How do they differ - on the ISSUES! Not how they differ if they were competing for a modeling contract. Not how they differ if they were vying to be someone you would ask over to your house.

It will take very little for me to make a complete decision to STOP WATCHING and LISTENING to MSM altogether if it continues down the same stupid, insulting, time-wasting, mind-rotting, nation-sinking, crap-lined path.

1. I have not watched television in over a month.
I dont miss the pretty "news"boys and girls smiling, schmmoozing over Tom, Lindsay, and Ashley, ignoring the war (what war?), and showing clips of Bush acting (un)presidential. I am free of those nauseating commercials for junk made in China that we should feel guilty if we havent bought $1000 worth of this past week.
Try it - you can do it too. Unplug the idiot box & listen to music. Get your news from Yahoo & DU. You'll feel much better.

2. True. It's not like you're missing anything. In fact, I doubt you have missed ANYTHING
Food for thought. Sorry, Chris Mathews, but your time in the hospital was just a blip. Tim Russert, I didn't miss anything with your one hour waste of time on Sunday about Faith in America for the umpteenth time. Imus, you're on vacation - who cares? Stopped watching the networks a long time ago. Right now I'm just about down to the Sunday newsies and KO once or twice a week.

When they only feed you thin, sour gruel - it's easy to go on a diet.

3. One more election cycle is about all the chance they have left

They're pretty much out of do-overs, and if 2008 on television ends up being what 2004 and 2006 were, there will be NOTHING left but the blogosphere and what remains of print political media for anyone with IQs above the price of a box of Best Choice mac & cheese. Oh, and just in case you were wondering, those operating at the Best Choice level and below won't be paying attention anyway - God knows they aren't now.

And a note to George F(ucking) Will, if he's listening: you can whine until milk curdles after the cows come home about how it's all just wild rumors and we need to heed the words of wise old gatekeepers like yourself if we want "real" news.

Clue Bus Ticket especially for you, George - you stopped being "real" about twenty years ago, along with the rest of the Beltway Kool Kidz. Guess all that sun from Morning In America must have damaged your corneas and made this difficult to see, asshat.
