New Congress Working Five Days A Week Means Dems Don't Care About Families? FU!
of course we're thrilled that the NEW congress is going to actually do some work! that's what they're suppose to do. they are suppose to serve the country and the people. that means go to work.

so the pukes are bitching about it

"Forget the minimum wage. Or outsourcing jobs overseas. The labor issue most on the minds of members of Congress earlier this week was their own: They will have to work five days a week starting in January.

"The horror.

"Rep. Steny Hoyer, the Maryland Democrat who will become House majority leader and is writing the schedule for the next Congress, said members should expect longer hours than the brief week they have grown accustomed to.

" "I have bad news for you," Hoyer told reporters Tuesday. "Those trips you had planned in January; forget 'em. We will be working almost every day in January, starting with the fourth."

snip

"Keeping us up here eats away at families," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. "Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families, that's what this says."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0612070031dec07,1,5005954.story?coll=chi-newsnationworld-hed

as it is now they go to work late tuesday and are done by thursday mid afternoon.

my family has been dug deeper and deeper into a financial hole over the last several years--they've thrown this country into a fucking hole as well ... and i'm suppose to feel sorry for fucking jack kingston and his family?

fuck you jack! you don't want to work? QUIT YOUR DAY JOB ASSHOLE! let a real patriot represent the people in your district. (i bet they're really happy to hear how anxious you are to represent them. planning on running again in 08? good fucking luck)

1. Kingston doesn't know that most Americans work at least 40 hours?
What an elitist. Georgia is only a few hours from D.C.

3. Oh, isn't that just a shame
I also read somewhere else, which I forget now, that the Dems were going to vote against a new pay raise for Congress at the beginning of the year. Bet the pubs will really bitch about that and to have to work a full week on top of it. Those evil communist.

4. You expect Republicans to be part of the working class?
Edited on Sat Dec-09-06 01:54 AM by Erika
It's not their style or habit. They just complain about others. Remember, the GOP are always the victims.

7. I say we prorate their salary for these last years & deduct what they've already been paid
just like we'd have to do.

What they should make: $71,940
$165,000/250 (normal working days for the rest of us) = $660 per day
(How many of us would like to make that!)

109 (days they actually worked) x $660 per day = $71,940

165,000 - $71,940 = $93,060

That's what EACH OF THEM OWES US BACK FOR JUST THE LAST YEAR! :hurts:

Kingston knew what the gig was when he ran. Lame excuse for not showing up for work! He shouldn't have applied for the job if he couldn't handle the travel!!!
OMG He's such a hypocrite! He thinks we'll buy this excuse...My God he traveled all over SE GA selling insurance & agriproducts. Give me a break! :wtf:

12. at your salary, you should be embarrassed to admit that you barely work.
In your chosen, elected position, you should be ashamed that you suggest that only working 2 to 3 days a week is legit - to earn more than $100,000 and to work more than that is to harm "families" - when many in your district have to work 2 or more jobs to make ends meet for their families. Of course it is no surprise that yet another republican is self-serving, has no shame about feeding off of the public dole, and has no sense of economic reality for working families within his district.

14. Anti-impeachment talking point destroyed
Edited on Sat Dec-09-06 11:38 PM by antiimperialist
Some anti-impeachment people have said that the reason why impeachment is not practical is because congress would have no time to take up other more important issues such as minimum wage increase, stem cell research, etc.

Now that Congressmen will be working 150% more days, this is no longer a valid reason against impeachment investigation.
5 full days to take care of EVERYTHING.

15. Kingston is obviously referring to
the families

Whose jobs were outsourced;

Who don't have health insurance;

Who are paid at the minimum wage;

Who have an abortion because of incest;

Who are single parents on food stamps;

Who work for Wal-Mart;

17. Nothing says that Kingston has to be there
He can spend all of the time with his family that he wants. If the voters in his constituency believe that is an acceptable excuse to miss votes then he should be just find.
