The money contest (Christmas update)
OK, it's time again to check out how our kids are doing. Lookin' hungry all of them, but half aren't even talking about money any more.

Gep is smartly not setting a deadline for his $1mil fundraiser. But damn that turtle looks evil. Who comes up with these things?

Whoa, Nelly! I'll say one thing about Dean. The boy has got balls to go with that bat. $1.5mil by midnight Wednesday starting from only $200k on Friday at 4pm means 1.3m in 5½ days, or 128 hours. Hmmm, lessee.... that's a collection rate of $10,147 per hour. Dang, that's almost a quarter million per day! Good luck doctor!

Clark is at $600k with a goal of a cool million by Wednesday midnight. Since he's from Arkansas, on Central time, I wonder if he gets an extra hour for fundraising. That's still $340k to raise in 5½ days--or $61,000 per day. Damn this Bush economy!

4TH QTR GOAL: $1.7M-LET'S GO!!

....$1,477,313 reached so far!

Meanwhile, Mr Kucinich has lit up 13 of his 15 points of light, which represents $1.48m out of his $1.7m fundraising goal for the 4th quarter. Bright idea! That's 86% there with 5 days left to trot at a soft pace of $40 thou per.

Kerry has raised $175,022 for the 4th quarter, but doesn't have any set goal to reach (at least not online). Don't worry Senator. If the house goes into hock you and the missus can always crash on my couch, dude!

Oops, no fundraisers online for Edwards, Sharpton, Braun, and Lieberman. Get out there and fundraise, yall! There ain't no shame in it!

2. It's nice to see
most of the candidates raising bucks online. I hope these numbers can be transferred to whoever wins the nomination. We WILL need some $$$in 2004.

3. I'll gladly give money to Kucinich and Gephardt
The Democratic heros who held the line against the GOP/DLC NAFTA/FTA agreements. Hell, Edwards is great too, perhaps I should send him $20.

4. When did these fundraisers start?
I know Dean's current bat started on the 23rd (he's had 2 or 3 this month already).

I think I read here once that Clark's started at the beginning of Dec.

My guess is that Gep started his at the beginning of Q4? And you're right, that is one ugly turtle!

5. Gephardt has really surprised me
I'm not the type to trumpet one of my favorites (Gep is #2 on my list) fundraising prowess, (heh, like giving constant updates like some)

but Gep easily raised 500,000 goal just a couple weeks ago, and this new million dollar 'tortoise' fundraiser has only been up for not even two weeks, and he has almost made it.

I didn't think Gep would raise as much as he has from the internet.

6. Me too, but don't forget the unions
I'm pretty sure this isn't only internet-raised money. It's just money

7. End of the year money projections?
My guess is that Dean will close the year with 35-40 Million (25 raised through Q3, plus 10+ in this final quarter).

Clark will probably end the year with 13-15 Million.

Kerry -- who knows?

What about the others? Anyone have numbers?
