Here are the new members of the Blue Dogs and New House Dems.
The Senate New Dem coalition is hard to find.

The Progressive Caucus doesn't appear to have the names up yet. I see a couple here I think are more progressive than not, so we will see. Some may be obligated almost because of great financial support from the DCCC.

I put an * by the names who are in both groups. As you can see with the duplication there is not really a huge growth in either.

New members of House Dem Coalition.
Gabby Giffords (AZ-8)
- Michael Arcuri (NY-24)*
- Ed Perlmutter (CO-07)
- Joe Courtney (CT-02)
- Ron Klein (FL-22)
- Tim Mahoney (FL-16)*
- Joe Sestak (PA-07)
- Heath Shuler (NC-11)*
- Bruce Braley (IA-01)
- Chris Carney (PA-10)
- Nick Lampson (TX-22)
- Jason Altmire (PA-04)
- Kristin Gillibrand (NY-20)*
- Baron Hill (IN-09)
- Chris Murphy (CT-5)
- Patrick Murphy (PA-8)} *

New Blue Dogs...

Heath Schuler*
Tim Mahoney*
Patrick Murphy *
Kristin Gillibrand*
Brad Ellsworth
Joe Donelly
Michael Arcuri*
Charlie Wilson

I was rather disappointed in Patrick Murphy, but we expected it. Tim Mahoney was a Republican until after he was recruited by Rahm in Florida. Heath Schuler thought about running as a Republican, but was convinced by almost daily calls from Rahm.

As I say, several of these are more progressive than what we usually think of in these groups. Will watch their voting records.

1. I agree ~~ Let's watch 'em for now!
I'm going to give every single one of them a chance before I even think about dissing them on DU..

I'd rather Blue Dog Dems =WIN= than dirty Rethugs any old day...

Congratulations Democrats ~~~

2. We need to work on them to fix this bill.

There are things that can make this bill more humane.

3. These Dems sound center-right
The fact that Rahm had to keep calling them to convince them not to run as Repubs shows that they really don't seem to offer very much as far as representing working class interests in government and defending them against corporate assault, but when you only have two parties with which to choose, you're going to get a lot of this.

The only good comes from the fact that they're holding office as Democrats, and numbers determine who controls the committees. The Democratic Party will accept a lot of politicians who are either agnostic or hostile to worker rights. That's the nature of mass parties in a bi-party system.

4. We don't need to categorize the Dems...
Before I could vote, I do remember Truman and how at the end of his administration he was pretty unpopular. People picked away at him for all kinds of reasons. He wasn't an intellectual, just high school. He was soft on Communism, meanwhile he endorsed the Truman doctrine of containment of the communists in SE Asia. He was initially backed by one of the most powerful, corrupt political groups in Kansas City, but his administration had very little scandal. The point being that everyone wants to 'box' the politicians into some ideology, so they can make a decision on how they rate them. Results are what is important to me. And I do remember how Americans were very proud of where we were going under those administrations of Truman-Eisenhower. Not anything like today where we feel like we sold our souls to these low life countries around the world in the name of 'free trade'.

6. I most definitely agree with you....let's tell that to the coalitions.
Do we agree on that?

These groups wrote Hastert to bring the bankruptcy bill to a vote, and I am keeping an eye out now.

I very much agree. I did not categorize them...they named themselves, they have set their goals. Both groups want to run away from the word "liberal"..which is really a word that means thoughtful and open-minded in its real definition.

Let's all be Democrats together.

Is that why you suddenly started calling yourself a "moderate" earlier this year?

5. Sorry, MF
The Senate New Dem coalition is hard to find.

No, it has been posted in several threads over the last couple of weeks - threads you were posting in.

Some may be obligated almost because of great financial support from the DCCC.

Wishful thinking and conjecture... but beside the point. The DCCC isn't an arm of the New Dem Coalition. If it was, there would be A LOT more on this list.

As you can see with the duplication there is not really a huge growth in either.

Well, that is some pretty odd spin. Any way you look at it, the House NDC grows by 16 to 63 members. That's what? A 40% increase? Anyone who didn't have an agenda would say that was a very healthy increase

7. I hate categories, ww. I really do.
I wish there were none. I wish we were all just plain Democrats. But until that happens, we need to be aware of agendas that are not good for us, the people in the party.

13. Well, we would not have to name ourselves anything but Democrats.
We would put the needs of the people of the country before the desires of corporations.

15. Iraq War, Bankruptcy Bill....
are two major issues I am concerned about. The war is bankrupting our country, and the bankruptcy bill which appears to have originated with Democrats is going to hurt many people.

Agenda, I really don't have one except to see what is going on.

14. The day after the election, these groups claimed the power was theirs.
So I just intend to keep an eye out.

I am not attacking them. Did you misread my post? I am saying that after the letters about the bankruptcy bill that we need to keep an eye out.

I think you misread.

Their letters to Hastert are included here.

17. You insinuated some had been bought off.
"The day after the election, these groups claimed the power was theirs"

BS. Both factions sought to grab the mantle of election victor with both sides having difficulty acknowledging the other's contributions. This is a perputuation of that.

Hmmm, and here I thought these people were public servants and accountable to US. Silly me.
