Republican at the door...
Saturday in Overland Park, Kansas, Kreighauser (right-to life repug) came to the door as he worked down our street (4th house in very long suburban street). He visited our door, as my wife is regestered 'unafiliated" (but I love her anyway) and he got our address from the election office.

I greet him at our door, the day was nice and sunny so I don't mind hanging out.

"Hi, im running for Kansas House of Representatives and...."
Interupting, although I realize it is rude to do so "What's your party afiliation?"
He says "In Kansas it doesn't mater as we run unafiliated and..."
I ask "What's your party afiliation?"
He Replies "it doesn't matter in Kansas Elections and your regidetered unafiliated.
I ask a thrid time.
He sighs, slumps a bit, looks beat and says "Republican".
I say, "Well in this election, this house is voting for ANYBODY with a democratic afiliation. Because of the War and the ethics and the economy."
He says "I'm only running for the state house".
I say "Your still a republican".
He honestly looks totally disspirited!
My heart which is demcratic, opens in a show of compasion, "I bet you've been hearing alot of that these last few days and it's been pretty rough, huh."
He shakes his head in afirmation.
I wish him luck all the same.
I peeked out a few minutes after he left and he was no where elese in our neighborhood.

Later that afternoon a girl scout arrived, I voted for 15 boxes of cookies to represent me for the year in the deep freeze.

3. .
I bet it's a rough time for him and he might even not like some of the things this Repub Admin has done. But at least he could not be ashamed to be a Republican. You can still stand up for what you believe, despite all the things your party currently stands for.

Somehow I have sympathy for people like him as well, but they are still a part of the problem I guess.

5. You were nicer than what I would have been
I've actually been wanting to answer the door to find a republican running for office on my doorstep so I could tell them something along the lines of, "It doesn't matter if you're running for Assistant to the Assistant to the County Dogcatcher. You're running as a republican, and as far as I'm concerned, that means you support the scumbags in Washington who lied us into the war, who didn't give the troops the armor and tools they needed, who tried to protect a pedophile, and who have taken away our rights. You cannot be both a republican and a good American, and I would never vote for you." *Slam*

Unfortunately, I've been away from my house everytime they've called and left their damn campaign literature in my door.

6. Who was it?
Kriegshauser?

Are you in the 16th? If you are, Gene Rardin, the Democrat still needs volunteers for tomorrow.

8. I'm still trying to find out some of the candidate's party affiliation.
I refuse to vote in somebody that's going to use a city commission or mayoral position as a springboard for a run for state or US rep or senator some day.

10. I had a very similar conversation with a candidate for a judge in NYS, 2004
Don't be sorry for him. Diebold may have his back.
