Gov. Jeb Bush weighed in on Florida’s voting systems before the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, inveighing against the media and defending the state’s election reforms.
Responding to questions about a Venezuelan company’s ownership of Sequoia voting machines used in Palm Beach and Indian River counties, Bush said the situation “should be investigated.”
Federal authorities are investigating Venezuelan businessman Antonio Mugica’s ownership of Boca Raton-based Smartmatic Corp. and its subsidiary, Sequoia Voting Systems Inc.
But Bush berated the media’s coverage of the foreign ties to the voting machines.
“All of this smoke coming up and conspiracy theories that you all are spewing out just before an election is just wrong. It’s just wrong.
This whole notion that somehow you can create doubts about the veracity of elections. It was tried two years ago. It was tried four years ago.
It’s yesterday’s news. And I wish that people would actually stay focused on the facts. Thank you,” he said, abruptly ending the news conference.
Jebbie is as mad as a little wet hen these days.
