Has anybody received this email about 300 k illegals living in garages
40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

4. Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.

10. In L.A.County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million speak Spanish

All attributed to the LA Times. I couldn't find any reference to it on the Times web site and it seems Snopes doesn't have a record of a majority of the points. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas where I could research the points. I'm fairly sure the majority of them are just bs but I would like to be able to blow them all out of the water.

2. Google is a good place to start
I tried searching using the terms 'statistics warrants for murder LA" and the first result out was this article - <http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/mac_donald04-13-05.htm> which references at least one of the points.

4. The Manhattan Institute is a RW think tank
according to their home page:

"...I want to thank the Manhattan Institute's support for pro-growth economic policies, policies that really send a clear signal that we are still the land of dreamers and doers and risk-takers."
- President George W. Bush

As for the statistics, there's probably a grain of truth to some of them, but I've talked to illegal aliens, and they pay all the taxes we do and get very little back.

The ones who work in restaurants, stores and agribusiness for example usually have fake SS numbers, so they pay into someone else's account or into a non-existent one (the SS admin appears to be lax in overseeing this area), and their employers deduct all their taxes from their paychecks.

Day laborers and domestics are another story, but I think employers are responsible for paying the taxes of domestics, though they often don't.

of our illegal alien problem. But the first item makes me truly angry. Any outrage over illegal aliens working under the table, without paying taxes should be addressed more at the employers not the illegals. It is the employer who is committing the real crime and that crime is based in greed. Paying under the table means you don't have to pay minimum wage, payroll taxes or contribute to unemployment insurance or workmen's compensation.
And as for number 9, what does the writer of email have against the free market--if the 21 stations were not making profits, they would soon go off air.

7. BINGO! Employers are responsible for collecting payroll taxes.
Throw a few of these anti-American employers in the pokey and see how things change.

Not holding my breath, though... :eyes:

5. The largest percentage of latinos live south of the Rio Grande
The rest of this story is also bunk. The biggest group of gangsters is the republican party and without them this piece of trash masquerading as journalism this article would have never been written.

Tens of thousands of decent, American cars forced to park in driveways and on the streets! Will no one think of the automobiles? Will no one think of the automobiles?

:sarcasm:
