Judge rules posting signs in polling places re Joe Negron violates FL law

Signs Banned From Polling Places

Circuit Judge Janet Ferris agreed with the Florida Democratic Party that posting signs in polling places that alert voters that Joe Negron is running in place of Mark Foley violates state law.

Ferris granted their request for an emergency injuction on Wednesday, which prevents supervisors of elections from posting such signs.

Update! Secretary of State's Office (appointed by Jeb Bush) plans to appeal.

2. I am sure the GOP does plan to appeal. However, "educational"
materials have never been allowed inside any polling place that I have ever visited in my entire life. The GOP should have thought about it before they let Foley withdraw his name. Ordinarily, you would run a write in candidate. They are lucky that they can have votes that go to his name be reassigned to someone else so all the straight party votes dont get lost.

Geez! If Republicans dont get an unfair advantage, they act is if something is wrong with the world. They need to grow up.

4. This is why we need to elect Jim Davis, as Sec. of State appointed by Gov!
So we don't have to see our taxpayers dollars spent on such utter ridiculousness and flaunting of our election laws.

5. Good!
This year, they changed the law, that you couldn't pass out "educational material" within 100 feet of the polling place. In 2004, it was 50 feet.

And unlike other states, in Florida, anyone wanting to run as a write-in has to file by the qualifying date (in May) otherwise the vote is discarded. So, any write-ins for Negron, will be null and void.
