Will the Chicago Sun story break this weeknd?
It was mentioned on DU yesterday.Big time leak. KO did'nt make note of it.The James Baker Iraq study on what to do, said basically there is no fix unless you do to Bagdad, what they did to Faluja. They have worked up a new slogan "Redeploy and Contain". Their version of "Cut and Run".It seems they can't get beyond the idea of why did we go into Iraq in the first place.

1. they may be too busy getting set for our (D) gov's coming indictment
Bloggo is most likely going down. perhaps just after the election.

The real issue today is whether his key aide, staffer, briber, campaign manager, controller of millions and decider of more will even show up in court. If not, watch the story to really get hot. If he does show, silence for a month while he begins to testify after cutting a deal with prosecutors.

9. I'm going to vote Blago
I just canNOT handle the idea of that twit Topinka in the Governor's office. Oh, yuck!!!! Even if Blago is dirty, I'd rather have him elected and then indicted than see her take it. Every time she opens her mouth, it's like fingernails on a blackboard.

14. I'm with you
Last election I got so disgusted with Lisa Madigan and Joe Birkett in the campaign for AG that I voted for someone whose name I didn't know and didn't care as long as it didn't say nazi party. I may do the same this time for gov.

I'm having feelings of hypocrisy re Blago. If here on the DU we constantly carp about corruption in politics on the repub side, how can we turn a blind eye to those dems who swim in the same water? Blago had a chance to be a great governor and he blew it. President? NFW! Besides, he is totally dwarfed and made insignificant by Obama.

7. Governor Rod Blogojavitch (D-Illinois)
has a buddy. Antoin (Tony) Rezko.

Tony made millions scamming pizza franchises and will be paying the piper for those crimes. But his real headline story is the he gamed the system for Bloggo.

He brought in millions in campaign donations. He controlled hiring practices and was the driving force between the 40K donation in exchange for a high ranking office in state govt. He played with the hospital board demanding millions in bribes before construction would be approved. He worked with both Ds and Rs in office to screw the system. As dirty pols go, Rezko is one of the worst. And he was chief of all things money for the governor.

Rezko is MIA. He was supposed to report to two different judges on different criminal charges, 3/4s of which are related to the Governor and state business.

All those rumors about paying to play stem from bloggo's reliance on this creep. And if they turn out to be true, watch for major league indictments in Illinois. (Given chicago, cook county, dupage county, will county, the GOP gubernatorial leadership under Ryan, the Hospital board convictions, North Shore Insurance scandals, and so much more, it is hard to explain just how dirty this is and how bad it is for Ds in our state.)
Bloggo is pond scum if the allegations coming out are true.

8. is all politics in Illinois dirty?
Edited on Fri Oct-13-06 10:02 AM by nickinSTL
(of course, the same question could be asked about ALL politics, I suppose...maybe Illinois politicians just aren't smart enough not to get caught)

What with the last 2 governors being hit with scandal, it makes you wonder...and I'm guessing that Baar Topinka is happy about this, but...I doubt she's any cleaner.

11. I've lived in Chicago (Rahm's district),NYC, Denver, Atlanta, Los Gatos,
LA, Phoenix, and have worked in three times that many amerikan cities. I have never been anywhere even half as corrupt as Illinois. It is open and blatant and every one from beat cops to fire health and construction inspectors all the way up to the top has their hand out and you better pay if you want anything done. There are so many machines running in Chicago I couldn't keep them straight. I've had the same person demanding bribes from three different offices. Ironically Rod B ran on a clean up Springfield campaign.

3. They better apoligize to Jack Murtha ......
So very soon the new mantra for Iraq with be "Redeploy and Contain", this is what the fixer James Baker will propose. Somehow I think Bush owes John Murtha an apology since this is what he suggested months ago. Just imagine how many lives have been lost because his plan fell on deaf ears.

13. Not a chance ...
NEVER in a million years ... They will do it, call it what they come up with, say it isn't what it isn't, then blame the media, the liberals and bad luck on how bad things are ...

Go to ANY lunkhead right wing follower and try to get them to admit that Iraq is in a civil war now ... NOT going to happen ...
