NRCC's Lexis-Nexus campaign blows up in their faces.
Edited on Thu Oct-12-06 06:53 AM by trogdor
At least in the 24th CD of New York, where Oneida County District Attorney Michael Arcuri is being accused of not caring about rape victims, with an article in the Utica Observer-Dispatch being cited as proof. Well, the Observer-Dispatch pretty much shoots it down in flames on page 1B this morning.

What NRCC says:
Michael Arcuri let a rape suspect out of jail back in 1995 because he didn't indict him in time. When questioned about it, he said, "these things happen."

What the Arcuri campaign's counter-ad says:
Arcuri has one of the highest conviction rates in New York State, and he takes cases like this very seriously.

What the O-D says this morning:
NRCC is pretty much full of shit. Yes, the rape suspect did have to be let go, but only because the VICTIM and the WITNESS failed to show up at the grand jury hearing, and the GRAND JURY ordered him released. The suspect was eventually found guilty and was sent to prison. Arcuri's comment to the O-D in 1995 was taken out of context.

So there you have it. We have a fighting Democrat in the 24th, who puts guilty people in jail, and I hope he mops the floor with his opponent.

The original articles related to this case have been made available online at http://www.uticaOD.com. I strongly urge anyone in the NY 24th CD who might be reading this to go pick up the Oct. 12th O-D and share it with anyone they can.

3. Thanks.
I also posted this as a diary at DailyKos, and in my own blog (see link below). This is just too important to let sink below the top page. We need to fight these bastards hard.

4. It's "Lexis-Nexis". There is no "u" in either word.
