Senate Reality Check...dKos...
I'm not always onboard with where Kos is going...but he is spot on here...

So those of you counting those chickens need to stop. All of you celebrating the imminent GOP collapse need to take a deep breath. We've got a long ways to go, and nothing in this cycle is in the bag. Nothing.

So no slacking. No premature celebrating. No heightened expectations.

There's a reason I'm pessimistic about our chances this year. It's because no has voted yet and nothing in this biz is ever guaranteed.

2. I couldn't agree more
I did a blog on this theme last week:

"Republicans Will have the cash, so do We have the Will?"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=2865515

Republicans have been preparing their final blitz, for the final two weeks before election day, for the last two years. And like I tried to write about in my blog, no matter how many seats we win, even if we do regain control of one or both Houses (and heaven forbid we don't} there will be times when we still won't have enough, when a few conservative Democrats will peel away from our hoped for majorities. There are many seats up for grab this year that are sitting right on the bubble right now. We haven't won them, and we may lose them, if we don't run hard and run scared. Scared of what? Scared of what will happen to this nation if Republicans maintain control of Congress. Picking up 5 Senate Seats and a Dozen House Seats would NOT be enough!

3. Remember the races we had in the bag in 2002 &2004
Jean Shaheen and Max Cleland immediately come to mind because those seemed to be sure things. Well, doncha know Georgia voters collectively, without telling pollsters, "gave Max the boot" (supposedly), and Shaheen got nailed by the phone scam the GOP put into place in NH. Now we are stuck with John "No experience-I-just-got-this-job-'cuz-of-my-dad" Sununu and Saxby Chambliss, two of the most worthless people to occupy the Senate, home of some of the finest politicians this country has ever seen. The thought that John Sununu and Daniel Webster have this in common is too much to bear.

We have to beat them by such big margins that they can't cheat. Otherwise I'm afraid they'll rig it in the areas where they can get away with it - again.
