ABC "docudrama about 9/11 DEBUNKED!
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 07:02 PM by AX10
http://mediamatters.org/items/200609010012

"Summary: In anticipation of ABC's docudrama The Path to 9-11, the right-wing media have resurrected a debunked claim that attempts to place blame for the 9-11 attacks on the Clinton administration. Specifically, a review of the miniseries on the right-wing website Human Events Online asserted that the Clinton administration erected a "wall" to prevent information-sharing between government agencies. In fact, the "wall" long predated Bill Clinton's presidency."

ALL DUer's, give this out to everyone you know!

Also, :kick: & Recommend this post!

13. I'm sure the mini-series won't bother
to point out it was the GOP controlled congress that kept Clinton over a barrel with Monicagate and whatever other bullshit they could think of to destroy him.

Glenn Greenwald has a piece (Nov. 2005) with quotes from top GOP officials that should be shoved in their greedy little corporate-lovin' faces everywhere they go.

Reminder of GOP Attacks on Clinton's Motives & Honesty re: Iraq & Kosovo

http://glenngreenwald.blogspot.com/2005/11/reminder-of-gop-attacks-on-clintons.html

So, we are now told by Instapundit and his throng of immediate defenders that it is unpatriotic to question the Bush Administration's honesty and motives in deciding to wage war in Iraq.

Does one become "unpatriotic" by making such allegations only with respect to this Administration and this military action, or does it always make one "unpatriotic" to argue that a President engaged in military action under false pretenses and for his own motives?

This question asks itself in light of these patriotism attacks, because it wasn't too long ago that GOP politicians and pundits were making exactly these same allegations against President Clinton with respect to his decision to bomb Iraq, to shoot cruise missles at Osama bin Laden, and to intervene in Kosovo.

A stroll down memory lane:

Rep. Dick Armey, GOP Majority Leader
"The suspicion some people have about the president's motives in this attack is itself a powerful argument for impeachment," Armey said in a statement. "After months of lies, the president has given millions of people around the world reason to doubt that he has sent Americans into battle for the right reasons."

Lots more quotes at link above.

CRAP job. Actually, Reagan started it when he just cut and ran when all those US marines were slaughtered and he did nothing. Yeah, that's the real story. Republicans are corrupt little criminal liars. Why has ABC decided to suck their venom? Is this their CSI?

I just blocked ABC with my parental control device. No more college or professional football. They should be studying anyway.

20. from Truthout, here's a darn good debunking...
" Clinton's dire public warnings about the threat posed by terrorism, and the actions taken to thwart it, went completely unreported by the media, which was far more concerned with stained dresses and baseless Drudge Report rumors. When the administration did act militarily against bin Laden and his terrorist network, the actions were dismissed by partisans within the media and Congress as scandalous "wag the dog" tactics. The news networks actually broadcast clips of the movie "Wag the Dog" while reporting on his warnings, to accentuate the idea that everything the administration said was contrived fakery.

In Congress, Clinton was thwarted by the reactionary conservative majority in virtually every attempt he made to pass legislation that would attack al-Qaeda and terrorism. His 1996 omnibus terror bill, which included many of the anti-terror measures we now take for granted after September 11, was withered almost to the point of uselessness by attacks from the right; Senators Jesse Helms and Trent Lott were openly dismissive of the threats Clinton spoke of.

Specifically, Clinton wanted to attack the financial underpinnings of the al-Qaeda network by banning American companies and individuals from dealing with foreign banks and financial institutions that al-Qaeda was using for its money-laundering operations. Texas Senator Phil Gramm, chairman of the Banking Committee, gutted the portions of Clinton's bill dealing with this matter, calling them "totalitarian."

In fact, Gramm was compelled to kill the bill because his most devoted patrons, the Enron Corporation and its criminal executives in Houston, were using those same terrorist financial networks to launder their own dirty money and rip off the Enron stockholders. It should also be noted that Gramm's wife, Wendy, sat on the Enron Board of Directors."

22. blame blame blame
How in the world, honestly can they even remotely place the blame at Clinton? I mean if they have to have someone to blame, well then doesnt it make sense to go back one more president? I mean he did go to war, oh yeah and we had allies at that time too, with Iraq when it invaded Kuwait, and I believe we stayed over there awhile longer trying to capture him didnt we? So, in all honesty that is where the finger pointing should start, but we all know it wont. W has had Iraq in the front of his mind ever since he was governor of this little place I like to affectionately call, Satans backyard, texas, yes the whole state..lol, anyway I wish people would sit down and thing about one thing first off this "war" was, is, has been, and continues to be bungled, misdirected, cluster-f#@ked, with absolutely no clear idea of what to achieve. But the biggest thing everybody needs to remember or remind the reasons he gave were all BOLD-FACED, FLAT-OUT LIES!!!

So, by all means if you feel the need to point fingers and to blame someone for this, just be sure you point to the correct starting point.

27. Sent this-my second email.
The ABC docudrama about to air regarding 9/11 is a hit piece on the Clinton administration. See the below link to an article on this topic.
http://mediamatters.org/items/200609010012
In short the article states ABC's docudrama blames Clinton and "the wall" between intelligence agencies for 9/11. In reality, "the wall" was built before Clinton's time in office, its definition was clarified under Clinton and "the wall" was reinforced under George W Bush in August '01. Please stop the lies ABC!

28. Fuck the Corporate Media
Sounds radical doesn't it?! Well... look around you. You see anything moderate about today's World?

Their motivation is "the bottom line" not truth. And there is no such thing as a liberal media.... never was. Rush and his ilk have duped the many uneducated types on the right with this very myth. As long as the media isn't regulated they will look out for their own interests and not the publics. Money time and time again proves to be too irresistable for the weak among us all. Truth is becoming a thing of the past, replaced by corporate (fascist) propaganda... no more checks and balances on those that cannot be trusted. Anyone placing allegiance to corporate America over the interests of our democracy, are essentially responsible for harming it and in the end itself. Corporate media deserves no trust anymore... they have forfeited their own credibility when they pursued Clinton's personal life and turned a blind eye to the many crimes of today's GOP and Bush Administration. Lopsided? Hell... their is only one side... the coporate side, and truth is compromised everytime a pretty bobble head opens his ir her mouth.

So once again: FUCK THE CORPORATE MEDIA!

36. Might I offer a perspective
Could this be an attempt to change the 9/11 discussions into which President is to blame, rather than discussing the problems with the official story of 9/11? It is often a favorite tactic of politically powerful people to try to conjure up a fake left vs. right debate, a false paradigm. I would try not to allow myself to react and get all up in a tissy over this, because it probably in attempt by someone to knock 9/11 discussions off course.
