The Great Leftward Shift begins....
Tonights victory is a message to all the pro-war Democrats out there. Either admit you were wrong and change your position, or accept bitter defeat. We will no longer stand for an apathetic Democratic party that allows Repukes to do as they please. Do your jobs and oppose the neocon agenda, or GET THE FUCK OUT.

Election rigging or not, the people are going to stand up and take the country back. You can't rig all of the machines, and if enough of us stand together, we will win against all odds.

I hope every "moderate" Democrat takes notice. The word "moderate" has been shifted so far to the right that it has become completely meaningless. Howard Dean is a true moderate. Ned Lamont is a true moderate. Al Sharpton and Dennis Kucinich are true moderates.

Pro war Democrats are NOT moderate. They're conservative. They're fake. And now they're GONE.

3. I've been waiting 5 years for the damn to break...tonite it showed
a real crack. It's a shame it started in our own party, but then maybe that was the only thing within the range of our hammers.

I have the feeling that every campaign manager in the democratic party is gonna be looking for ways torun away from anything that looks Liebermanesque.

16. it's been such a long time coming
This is the beginning of the end for the right-wing madness that has gripped our country. We have suffered though so much heartache & disappointment these past 6 years:

- the stolen 2000 election
- an incompetent administration that allowed the worst attack on the U.S. in history (9/11)
- the "Diebolded" defeat of Sen. Max Cleland in 2002
- the insane invasion of Iraq
- the untimely death of Paul Wellstone
- the "Diebolded" 2004 election theft
- the economic rape of California & other, mostly "blue" states by predatory energy companies
- the Enron, et al supported recall of Gov. Gray Davis
- the almost-victories of Ciro Rodriguez, Francine Busby, Paul Hackett and others

At last, I believe the tide has finally turned. And not a moment too soon.

I am very excited by this and the approval ratings for Bush among the nations youth are both strong indicators of where this is heading.

6. ONE of them is gone.
But I do believe many, many, many members of both parties will awake in the morning with bad heads and grouchy tummies.

I say, buy stock in Maalox, Zantac, Tumms.

What can settle the stomach of a nervous Congress? (Oh, why should I worry? THEY have healthcare. And pensions.)

9. Recall the Dem Convention of 1968? If senators support Joe now,
what do they think they will be doing to their own party? A big split in the party because they want 'their guy' over voters choice of Lamont can't be good for the party. It could be a 1968 repeat if they support him over the vote in Conneticut for Lamont.

10. With the DLC pro-war Democrats in the power they have....
that division is already happening. Lieberman is just one of the people involved with trying to turn the party into corporate-run whoreish entity. They all must go!

12. I have to agree
with the victory of the underdog staunch conservative in Michigan, the stark contrast between Republicans and Democrats is going to widen, and the majority of the populace will fall squarely in the Democratic camp, and will be led from the Left wing in the same way the Busheviks have been led from the Right.

Then we will see what the Left is really made of. Will we begin to divide and cannibalize each other straight away, or will we wait a week or so?

13. isolate mainstream voters and unilaterally eliminate corporate funding
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 11:36 PM by BrightKnight
Yeah, that will work.

Screw the ill informed mainstream voters. They are all repugs anyway. The important thing is to be pure and live in an ivory tower.

20. peace and prosperity or anti war rhetoric
People are more in favor of peace and prosperity than they are anti war. They want the ugly stuff to go away but I doubt that they would respond well to anti war rhetoric. Most moderates would buy a peace and prosperity message.

15. I couldn't agree more
I'm sick as hell of Republicans dressing up in Democrat clothing. Hear us now - Joe Lieberman types this is your wake up call - either get on board opposing the Iraq war, or get the fuck out of the party. Seriously. The Democrat party does NOT stand for war, especially a WAR FOR OIL that was MADE UP by Bush and the Neocons!

Those who hear and understand: it's time.

Those who cannot comprehend that a great correction is needed: you lag behind your constituents, and this is not without peril.
