In Ohio, Strickland leads by 22 over Blackwell
In the latest SurveyUSA poll, Ted Strickland is pulling away from his Republican opponent, the vile, vile Ken Blackwell. From a Strickland campaign e-mail:
Ohio gubernatorial candidate Congressman Ted Strickland has extended his lead to 22 points over Republican nominee Ken Blackwell in an independent poll released today by SurveyUSA.

Strickland leads Blackwell 57% o 35% percent in today's poll, picking up six points since the last SurveyUSA poll was released in June. Strickland is attracting 22% of Republican voters and leads 5 to 2 among independents, according to the survey conducted August 5 to August 7.

2. Is it enough, I wonder?
There's got to be a number at which Blackwell won't dare steal because it would be so obvious he'd be caught

12. If they even ATTEMPT it . . .
We CANNOT let a sideshow nutjob like Blackwell be our next Gubner. This guy will make Taft look like Adlai Stevenson and Ohio will be a giant ramshackle, tumbleweed infested, backwoods church lot.

24. Remember how the Diebold machines in Ohio
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 10:57 PM by tblue37
just reversed the numbers on the voter referendums in the last election? Where the polls showed the voters going 2 to 1 against what the Republican powers that be wanted, the final vote tally was exactly reversed.

26. I think they set the machines...
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 01:24 AM by Mr_Jefferson_24
...to steal, 1 or maybe 2 of every 5 votes cast for the Dem, and then just hope that's enough. Why do the exit polls match actual results when Diebold machines are not used, but very often not when they are--and the discrepancy always favors the Rethug?

5. And Brown is still 8 points ahead of DeWine
scroll down in the link posted in the above thread.

Rasmussen, of course, only had Brown 2 points ahead. I think the Rasmussen poll only had Ted 10 points ahead of Blackwell.

Wonder which poll the GOP Ohio news media will be touting?

Ohio will turn blue if we all get to vote!

7. That's the only hope...massive double-digit lead...
...it's the only way to stop another theft...

The MSM is trying to pull that BS with LIEberman today saying that "it is close", when the lead was most recently 10+ for Lamont....then they'll claim DINO Joe wins in a squeaker...

17. No, it's just within the margin of error...
the voters' error is that they think they will determine the results.

18. Blackwell can still steal it. If he does not, the Dem will uncover
all the election fraud that has been going on in Ohio. The GOP has to keep that state Red.

19. The crosstabs in this SurveyUSA poll make no sense
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 06:30 PM by Awsi Dooger
Why would Ohio latinos favor Blackwell and DeWine by overwhelming margin, by 40 points or more? I follow voting trends closely enough to know that's absurd. Kerry carried Ohio hispanics by 30 points in 2004.

Also, that sample has Blackwell receiving 31% of the black vote and DeWine with 28%. Again, that has got to be garbage. Other surveys have given Blackwell higher than normal percentage among blacks, understandable I guess, but not DeWine. Certainly nothing threatening 28%.

Maybe it's just lousy sampling. The Hispanics should be closer to 3% of the sample, not 1% And 1% of 1000 is only 10 people, so maybe it's just a stupid unrepresentative group.

Regardless, excellent new of these leads. Maybe Brown indeed has a margin in that range although I continue to be skeptical an incumbent will ever lose by that margin.

The best news from these and other polls is the re-establishment of the gender gap. Women favor Strickland 60-31 and Brown 53-38. We win big in November only if white women return to our camp and this is a good indication that's happening.

27. BobcatJH, I had a rough night. You've made my morning much beater!
"Vile," how curious I see that word. I must have used it 15-20 times over the past months to refer to the Ohio junta which is lead by Blackwell. He's the brains of the outfit. That's easy to tell just by listening to the hapless Taft and the angry Petro. Hopefully his luck has run out. 22 points sounds damn good to me and I'll take the good news. I have vowed to go to the inauguration in OH should Blackwell lose. What an honor to be there where real people stood up to the tyrants and fought. I think that those 200 citizens who took back their seat of government during the early days should be honored and given the "keys to the capitol." Even if they had a fleet of trucks and mal intent, they couldn't match what the Republican banana Republicans have stolen from that great state. Let Strickland win, pray for a Democratic A.G. and let the investigations and prosecutions begin. The crimes of the past years cannot be forgiven. After all, it's a law and oder thing.

K&R of course...
