The Dixie Chicks are #1 on the Billboard Top 20!
Looks like Clear Channel's boycott of the Dixie Chicks has failed. How can Country Music ignore them know?
----------------------

As Taking The Long Way debuts at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums chart this week, with first week's sales of 525,829, the Dixie Chicks have become the first female group in chart history to have three albums debut at #1, breaking the record the Chicks established in 2002 when the group's last studio album, Home, debuted at #1 and made them the first female group ever to have two albums debut at #1.

With the #1 debut of Taking The Long Way, the Dixie Chicks have also become the first female group in chart history to have three studio albums occupy the #1 slot on the Top 200.

Taking The Long Way has achieved one of the year's Top 5 first week's sales tallies and has the best first week's sales for any female act on the Top 200 in 2006.

In addition to its chart-topping success in America, Taking The Long Way has just debuted at #2 in Australia.

The new album, "Taking the Long Way," took the No. 1 spot Wednesday on the country albums chart and the Billboard 200 overall chart - which are based on sales rather than radio airplay - with 526,000 units sold in its first week.

500,000 units were delivered to the DNC headquarters and remain unopened in a storeroom somewhere.

Here is another one :tinfoilhat:
For all intents and purposes, the Dixe Chicks were DUed. Many liberals bought their album solely because the fat one of the group bashed the President. Few of these people were Country Music or even Dixie Chick fans and probably have not even listened to the CD anyway.

When the Chicks start touring, which where the true measure of their popularity will be measured they will see what is really up.

If record sales are any indicator, they tours will do very well. I intend to go see them.

3. Hahaaaaa!
And the Lord said, "Who shall I send? Who will stand for us?" Said I, "Here I am...Send me."

And then the freeper enlisted & volunteered to go to Iraq. It was the least a Bush-loving patriot could do for a 3rd- or 4th-tour soldier wanting to go home.

6. If only this were true....(that there were that many DUers)
Stupid freepers. Do they think that 526,000 DUers bought the new Dixie Chick CD in one week?

8. Congratulations to the Dixie Chicks and to hell with all those
station program wusses who wouldn't play their music.

Also to hell with all the other country-and-western artists who refused to stand up in their defense.
