Looking for politically incorrect and particularly slimy RW quotations.
I'm compiling a database of quotations by RW & neocon politicians and spokesmen. I'm looking for damaging quotations not just Bushisms: anything that they would not want to have thrown back in their face.

Please add what you have here and include a link for verification.

Thanks!

1. Here is a drug one of Limbaugh's - and a link to many others from him
http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1159

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.

...We are becoming too tolerant as a society, folks, especially of crime, in too many parts of the country.... This country certainly appears to be tolerant, forgive and forget. I mean, you know as well as I do, you go out and commit the worst murder in the world and you just say you're sorry, people go, "Oh, OK. A little contrition."... People say, "I feel better. He said he's sorry for it." We're becoming too tolerant, folks."

2. Cheney on Guantánamo
"They're living in the tropics. They're well fed. They've got everything they could possibly want."
CNN Interview, June 24, 2005
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/06/23/cheney.interview/

There are probably some other gems in there, but this is one I remember as turning my stomach.

Good luck. I'm assuming you'll share with us once it's complete, right?

Steph

5. Yes, I intend to share the completed project.
I think it is time we started firing back at them with their own words. I think what they say is a lot more damming than anything anyone on the left has said but the MSM keeps harping on anything the Dems say while ignoring (for the most part) the outrageous statements made by the RW.

Good quote, thanks!

3. Trent Lott on Strom Thurmond and segregation
"I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either," Lott said at last week's party.

Thurmond ran as the presidential nominee of the breakaway Dixiecrat Party in the 1948 presidential race against Democrat Harry Truman and Republican Thomas Dewey. He carried Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and his home state of South Carolina, of which he was governor at the time.

During the campaign, he said, "All the laws of Washington and all the bayonets of the Army cannot force the Negro into our homes, our schools, our churches."

Thurmond's party ran under a platform that declared in part, "We stand for the segregation of the races and the racial integrity of each race."

4. There's this one:
Edited on Sun May-28-06 03:00 PM by Totally Committed
"A good bit of the country thinks the meaning of America is it's a place where you get to do whatever you want. Different strokes for different folks; if it feels good, do it.... And then there are people like us who believe with all our hearts that that was NOT what the country was supposed to be about. We believe that it's supposed to be a place built on ordered liberty under God.

Somebody gets to put their views into practice through our laws. And the winner of this big war between those two worldviews is going to win our children. In the war over the meaning of America, we're going to win."

--Gary Bauer, Family Research Council's Washington Briefing, 3/15/03

But this one gets the all-time Gold Medal from me:

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? Oh, I mean, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

-- Barbara Bush said on ABC's "Good Morning America" on March 18, 2003.

Ugh.

8. Truly telling statements. Thanks for posting.
People need to be informed about the likes of Mr. Bauer and what better way to show the man's agenda then with his own words?

I agree: Barbara Bush's words are contemptable. She thinks she's in the cat bird's seat now being the wife of a former President and the mother of the sitting President, but she is going to be held to account for these words by generations to come.

9. Brian Buckley, former attorney for freerepublic.com
Posting on January 25 under his FreeRepublic screen name “Clarity,” Buckley said, “Why be so easy on the Clintons? Even after they are dead, I say we stuff their bodies, fix them in some kind of preservative and display them at county fairs across the nation, on a rotating basis where the citizenry can have fun putting cow dung on them (remember that’s ‘art’). If that’s not in good taste, their bodies should be flattened thin as possible, again fixed in some kind of preservative and hoisted up a flag pole to flap in the wind.”

You have to get at this quote through google cache:

14. "Whoops. Well, thank you, I think."
Said Jesse Helms with a salute, after being praised by a listener of the Larry King Live program, who said, "I know this might not be politically correct to say these days, but I just think that you should get a Nobel Peace Prize for everything you've done to help keep down the niggers."

http://commfaculty.fullerton.edu/lester/writings/taboo.html

(Note that the transcript above is edited to exclude Helms' full comment. Many other sources have also edited out Helms' comment, but I've seen the tape. Wish I could find it right now, but I can't.)

Here's a bonus quote from Jesse:

"I was with some Vietnamese recently, and some of them were smoking two cigarettes at the same time. That's the kind of customers we need!"

17. From John "The Judge Killer" Cornyn:
SENATOR JOHN CORNYN: I don't know if there is a cause-and-effect connection but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country. Certainly nothing new, but we seem to have run through a spate of courthouse violence recently that's been on the news and I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters on some occasions where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in - engage in violence. Certainly without any justification but a concern that I have that I wanted to share.

I'm saving the pundits for another project. This is one geared to leaders of the conservative movement and decision makers. The mouthpieces will go under conservative media idiots later.

Here's the link to what I've got so far.... http://www.dynamicdems.com/elephant_droppings.htm

If anyone has any other good ones, please add.

Thanks all for the help!

"Environmentalists are a socialist group of individuals that are the tool of the Democrat Party. I'm proud to say that they are my enemy. They are not Americans, never have been Americans, never will be Americans."
- Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), Alaska Public Radio, 08-19-96

"Get rid of the guy. Impeach him, censure him, assassinate him."
- Rep. James Hansen (R-Utah), talking about President Clinton, as reported by journalist Steve Miner of KSUB radio who overheard his conversation, 11-01-98

"We're going to keep building the party until we're hunting Democrats with dogs."
- Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas), Mother Jones, 08-95

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to The New York Times building."
- Ann Coulter, The New York Observer, 08-26-02

"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors."
- Ann Coulter, at the Conservative Political Action Conference, 02-26-02

"I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus—living fossils—so we will never forget what these people stood for."
- Rush Limbaugh, Denver Post, 12-29-95

"Chelsea is a Clinton. She bears the taint; and though not prosecutable in law, in custom and nature the taint cannot be ignored. All the great despotisms of the past—I'm not arguing for despotism as a principle, but they sure knew how to deal with potential trouble—recognized that the families of objectionable citizens were a continuing threat. In Stalin's penal code it was a crime to be the wife or child of an 'enemy of the people.' The Nazis used the same principle, which they called Sippenhaft, 'clan liability.' In Imperial China, enemies of the state were punished 'to the ninth degree': that is, everyone in the offender's own generation would be killed and everyone related via four generations up, to the great-great-grandparents, and four generations down, to the great-great-grandchildren, would also be killed."

- John Derbyshire, National Review, 02-15-01
