1. Hmm...Lautenberg voting yea..
That's really odd. He and Menendez are usually lock step liberals for NJ in every way possible. Dissapointing to say the least.

19. Hey Illinois
you have two good senators who voted no.

I don't know what happened to my senators especially Reed from RI, I sent him a e-mail and asked him why he voted for Hayden

3. Good for them...
...glad to see some of the names there...Specter is a surprising one, but only in that he shows a streak of rebellion when he knows it won't effect the outcome.

14. That IS aggravating...
I can almost understand his big business leaning (not that I like it).. but THIS one I don't get. What on earth did he have to gain by voting for this turkey?

5. looks like we need to take back about 31 seats
to win back control of the Senate

these 20 (giving the no-shows a bigger benefit of the doubt than they probably deserve), plus 31 more would give us a majority.

10. Agree...we need to post this list on our Refrigerator Door so we
remember who stood up against SPYING on Americans. And, we need to keep the "Not Votes" there too because like Rockefeller they might have had some circumstances keeping them from voting...

I know Boxer is great....Inouye used to be good but he voted for Bankruptcy bill ...and a couple of other things...still I always thought of him as more "progressive" than Biden.

but Wyden had a good argument against Hayden during the confirmation hearings. I like him.

9. I found that odd myself.
I'm not very happy with Levin and Stabenow right now. In Stabenow's case, not only did she vote for Hayden, she voted against the immigration bill.

23. Don't understand Levin at all..
Levin has been so dependable for us! No vote on the Patriot Act, and fighting the Alito nomination...why confirm Hayden?

16. Biden voted NO on Kempthorne - Feingold voted Yes
Only 8 senators voted against Kempthorne:

NAYs ---8
Biden (D-DE)
Clinton (D-NY)
Dayton (D-MN)
Harkin (D-IA)
Kerry (D-MA)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Nelson (D-FL)
Schumer (D-NY)

By the time you collate the lists only 4 senators voted against all three nominations today: Kerry, Clinton, Harkin, and Dayton.

More on Kempthorne, the stealth nominee for Interior (stealth in that they hid him behind Hayden and Kavanaugh, and were apparently quite effective, judging by DU):

21. You are right on Kempthorne. It is a very strange mixture of people who
nixed him. I wonder what their motives were...knowing they would lose anyway, but it would look good on their resumes?
It would also appear some people voted yea that I definitely would have expected to have opposed that guy.
Sure makes one wonder about the shenanigans in DC.

Mikulski in particular. I'm beating myself up now for not calling/emailing her before the vote.
