Question about California's Primary

[Popol Vuh]

Hi DU'ers, I am going over my California Primary Sample Ballot and was wondering if some of you could be so kind as to give me a little background on the Democrat candidates running for office of Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary Of State? I am afraid that lately I've been so busy with issues concerning my union (the ILWU) and a new girlfriend that I haven't done enough background on all the candidates.

At first glance (for Governor) it looks like Phil Angelides or Steve Westly would make decent nominees to run on the Democrat ticket. But I don't like to be as uninformed as I am currently. I would appreciate any input you all can. I have come to respect and trust most DU'ers.

Ironically speaking, I won't be able to respond back right away because I am just about out the door to take new girlfriend to the rock house, the knitting factory in hollywood to watch a rock concert.. (Guys you know how it is... lol)
