Washington Post; Dems confident of retaking House, maybe overconfident??
Edited on Sat May-06-06 11:14 PM by killerbush
The Washington Post will report in its Sunday edtion that Democratic House leaders are so confident of retaking the House in the November elections, they are setting up their agenda, and it will include a lot of investigations of President Bush and his sordid scandals.
The Democrats have never been this giddy over the fact that they will return to power after many years of being the minority in Congress. I just hope that the Democrats aren't setting themselves up for a great big letdown in November. I do hope they retake both houses of Congress, so we can set up Bush, and hopefully take him, along with plenty of others, down. But it's a LONG, LONG way to November.

1. Most Americans want to know why we are in Iraq and W's lies
to be outed. W seems to have done away with honesty.

They need to just keep quiet....
And run the elections...

Stop talking to reporters about how they feel...

7. I agree with that. They should not be telegraphing their..
intentions. They set themselves up to be attacked by bush's media lapdogs.

I am glad to hear that there is some optimism. I think the party has needed this.

3. I would think there would be rejoicing at DU
knowing the Dems fully intend to begin investigations.

Oh happy day!

4. Rocknation: Repubs terrified of Dems taking House, may be desparate enough
to have Bush-friendly media planting Dem-demoralizing stories.

9. Until the Dems get their head out of the sand about the DREs, all this...
is meaningless. Fair vote counting has to be a constant drumbeat from all Dems, every last one of them, PRIORITY NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE DON'T HAVE A DEMOCRACY ANYMORE.

Until Dems can realize this simple fact, all this happy talk about re-taking power is like having a drunken party inside your cell block while the jailers are building bigger and thicker walls.

10. The Dems are experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory
The GOP is a cornered animal, and that makes them extremely dangerous. The Swift Boat fleet is going to be out in full force this November, with Captain Karl at the helm. The Dems had better be truly organized and prepared to meet them on their own ground. They are going to have to campaign HARD, and they are going to have to be willing to hit back at the GOP as viciously as the GOP hits them.

11. All the opinions about Dems recapturing the house.....
From the Left and the Right, all the opinions about how favorable the conditions are for Dems right now are followed by a great big, fat BUT... Why can't we just be as confident as the Republicans claim to be? Being doubtful about a Democratic victory in the fall doesn't inspire voters--it makes them want to stick to the status quo. What are we doing to ourselves?
