Antonin Scalia's comments that GTMO inmates have 'no rights' broadcast!!!
Antonin Scalia comments at the University of Freiburg in Switzerland that GTMO inmates have "no rights," among other things, was just broadcast on NPR's "All Things Considered!" It was at about 5:18pm, so for those in the Mountain and Pacific Time zones, it should play at about 5:18p/4:18p respectively. It's not currently on the web page, but should be by 7:00p to 7:30p ET at this link: <http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=2>

None of this would matter much, except that he, along with 7 other SCOTUS Justices are "...hearing the case of Salim Ahmed Hamdan - who was Bin Laden’s driver from 1996 to 2001 - in which he is arguing that the US administration does not have the constitutional right to order special military trials...." tomorrow. Chief Justice Roberts has already disqualified himself.

Here are some of his comments, as reported by the Times of London:

..."War is war, and it has never been the case that when you captured a combatant you have to give them a jury trial in your civil courts," Judge Scalia said, during a talk on March 8 at the University of Freiburg in Switzerland, according to Newsweek.

"Foreigners, in foreign countries, have no rights under the American Constitution... Nobody has ever thought otherwise." Judge Scalia said that if a foreign combatant was captured by the US army on a battlefield, as prison camp was where he belonged.

"I had a son on that battlefield and they were shooting at my son, and I’m not about to give this man who was captured in a war a full jury trial. I mean it’s crazy." The conservative judge’s son, Matthew, fought in the Iraq war.

Judge Scalia also said he was "astounded" at the hypocritical reaction to the Guantanamo camp in Europe....

3. He doesn't have the integrity to recuse himself.

Just like he didn't when he refused to recuse himself after going "hunting" with Cheney before hearing his case before the Supremes.

He is a disgrace to the court.

9. I'm still waiting for them to impeach him for Bush v.Gore...
...if the Democrats retake the House while he's still on the SCOTUS, he should retire.
