This man will be totally lost in the world and I fear not far behind his wife.

When a man loves this completely and totally and pure, they are so heartbroken that they don't usually last after they lose their wife.

My god, you've got Senator Bryd dead and buried already.

I too have seen instances where persons married for many years have died within a short period of time from one another.

However, I also know many widowers and widows, many of these even remarried at very old ages and many did not.

I will never give up on Senator Robert Byrd. He is a whole person as we all are. He has experienced an extreme loss yes, but he can go on I believe.

I say to Senator Bryd, may your dear wife rest in peace and may God please lessen and heal your grief.

2. That could be true. I've seen it too.

I'm still hoping that Bob turns some of his grief into anger with the current state of affairs in the Senate! He is very old, but I think he also knows he contribuutes a lot to his Country, and he just make THAT effort the central goal...at least for a few years.

4. We all deal with grief in our own ways

In my case, I ask something called "God" for help. I've experienced 5 deaths in my own family in recent years. I'm not dead (yet).

I have learned to empower myself with this grief. I have used this grief in positive ways that I had never imagined possible.

In the end, I have found that the ways I deal with my own grief is look to other ways, look to others that are ALIVE.

To be stuck in a grief stricken state is useless for any great length of time, I found this out the hard way.

Perhaps Senator Bryd with his age and doubtless wisdom has already learned this lesson. He knew his wife was ill for quite some time. Perhaps this is a blessing for him and for his late wife too and other family members that have undoubtedly suffered much during her illness too. It works both ways and in many ways.

7. He is also the only one who stood for hours on the Senate floor

alone trying to stop the race to war. He is and was very articulate about the truth. I for one would hate to see him lose. Let's see...have you ever done anything in your life that you outgrew and used to make you a better man? No? Robert Byrd has!

I feel badly for him, and yes, it is possible that he may follow his wife sometime soon. On the other hand, it would be a shame to lose him. I disagree with him on many things, but he is one of our great statesmen. If you want a good idea of where he falls on the War, read this transcript of his remarks on the floor of the Senate. If you can find it, watch the video. Rarely does the Senate hear such impassioned but well reasoned prose, and there is no one else in the Senate who would have done it in quite the same way.

Manchin won't comment on whether he'd select himself or not.. but as popular as he seems to be, I'll bet anything West Virginians would ask him to.

he campaigned against the Democratic nominee for governor in 1996, in favor a rightwing extreminst coal operator. He's also rabidly anti-choice and hates unions. He'd sell the party and the country out in a heartbeat if he got into the Senate and had the opportunity to advance his Republicrat career aspirations.

12. Senator Robert Byrd is and will always be one of the great Senators

of this Great Nation. His passion for the Constitution is matched by very few Senators these days. Although I have disagreed on some of his "votes" I respect his conviction to uphold and protect The Constitution of the United States.

I am filled with sorrow to hear of his wife passing as I know she was really "his other half" in all ways. May the power of the GOD he speaks of so lovingly comfort him in this very sad and trying time.
