How to get out of Iraq in 1 year
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 09:39 PM by MissWaverly
ZBIGNIEW BRZEZINSKI, Former National Security Adviser to President Carter:
His 4 steps to get us out of Iraq
1. Ask the Iraqi government to ask us to leave, first of all. And some would ask us. Some have already asked us, in fact.
2. Have a date agreed for departure set jointly by us and the Iraqi Government
3. Iraq, convenes conference of neighbors, Muslim neighbors, who have a
mutual interest in a stable Iraq.
4. Arrange a donors conference for recovery or Iraq.

We could do that. I think we'd be better off if we did it; otherwise we're stuck, and this is getting worse and worse. The region is becoming more destabilized and hostile to us.

1. No thinks. This guy is total neo-con.
Check out The Grand Chessboard. He knows full well that we are in the ME as an empire for good.

Dont let his employ with the Carter admin fool you.

4. Okay, but who do we listen to
Iraq is 438,000 miles twice the size of Idaho
it's population from (2001) was estimated at 23,331,985
that's comparable to the population of New York at 19 million and Philadelphia (whose
metro area is comprised of 5.7 million) combined they would be about 25 million

We need advice from someone, the American people will trust because the strategy
right now is to throw money away w/o stabilizing Iraq, we have nothing to show for
the last 3 years.

5. Well, I dont think this latest opinion from him means much.
While I totally agree with your assessment of the occupation and its challenges, I dont think that Brez. is the person to listen to here.

We need to consider our imperialism, not just our occupation of Iraq. Even if we get out of Iraq, we will still have a large and growing presence in the ME. That is the real problem here.

We as a country need to confront the issues that made this illegal war a possibility in the first place; the militarism of our country; our mal-informed populace; control of government by the M/I Complex.

The sooner we get out of this illegal war, the better off we will be. That said, Brez. is a killer and a thug who should stay far away from decent people, imo.

6. Chuck Hagel says the war is bankrupting America
and I believe him, it's just like Katrina, with probably a 1700% profit for all available
commerical interests, I think this administration will be known as the kickback administration. I just wish that Fitzgerald would hurry up and indict Rove and hopefully
Cheney, it might bring some much needed change in leadership. I was thinking of adding
John Dean somehow in the mix to this administration, he's a lawyer, he's intelligent, he
doesn't go in for dirty politics and I think someone like him in badly needed in the
bubblesphere at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I also think Larry Wilkerson is someone who should be pulled in and Bruce Bartlett but I am not that familiar with the military, there
should be someone for Secretary of Defense but I can't suggest anyone.

10. Don't joke, it could happen
Then Bush could play the terra, terra, terra game and they could one up each other like
they did before the war.

8. If Bush were not proud, so single-minded, he'd understand the steps.

Who SHOULD be most involved?

Turkey
Iran
Syria
Jordan
Saudi Arabia
Pakistan
Kuwait

The Islamic nations in Iraq's immediate area, plus Pakistan, should be most involved in reaching a post-US Iraq reconstruction. The US needs to reach out to those nations.

It won't happen, though, because that doesn't feed Halliburton or BP, but more importantly, that isn't George Bush. It's his way or no way.

9. I heard a marine on Air America today.
He talked about how the military rank and file do NOT support this war based on lies regardless of the spin.

It is clear the TRUTH must break through the cheerleading and the spin, and that our Democratic nominee must be squarely against this illegal, immoral war. I fear the war will not end until the WH changes hands.

12. what I hope will happen
Karl Rove and Dick Cheney will be indicted, then Bush resigns, even with Hastert in there,
at least, he would bring in advisers and Rumsfeld would be gone.
