"Illegal immigration causing a shortage of cheap American labor"
From the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

Democrats have been buzzing about comments made by state Sen. Nancy Schaefer (R-Turnerville) at a recent eggs-and-issues breakfast in Hart County. We quote from the Hartwell Sun newspaper: "Commenting on illegal immigration, Schaefer said 50 million abortions have been performed in this country, causing a shortage of cheap American labor. 'We could have used those people,' she said."

Thoughts?

2. geez.....
We could have used them so that we'd have even more poor, underemployed citizens? I don't understand that kind of thinking at all.

4. There's the proof.
The reTHUGs want a multitudinous, ignorant underclass for cheap labor. We knew it all along. Now one of them has actually said it.

18. Indeed.
I think in the reTHUG mind, though, it's all the same. Cannon fodder IS just another form of cheap labor. Sweeping floors, digging ditches, manning the front lines... it's all the same to them as long as they don't have to do it.

5. I KNEW IT! My theory all along! They just want cheap labor!
White people didn't have enough child slaves, so they had to let the darkies in. It's the pro-WHITE LIFE MOVEMENT.

6. "used" is exactly right, as in "exploited."
So "unborn"=cheap labor.

Nice, Senator Scaefer, real nice. :sarcasm:

And that's why I refuse to call the "Human Resources Dept" at work anything but the old term, "Personnel Dept." When people say, "You mean HR, don't you?", it gives me a chance to point out the wrongful commoditification of persons.

I am a singular, living, aware being, as is every other human. We are not a mere commodity and don't let anyone forget it!

On Edit: In my work, I also refuse to refer to patients as "clients" and doctors as "providers" -- same principle.

11. All that cheap labor causes a need for social services.
I once saw a study of conservatives and it said that a trait of many conservatives is the inability to care about other people. So "cheap labor" is a commodity to them like water or energy. They do not see the cheap labor as human beings with needs and feelings. A conservative can feel ok with paying someone slave wages and not care that the worker cannot provide the basics of life on that income.

But then they want to take those services away too.

14. Ya
Satan himself has reversed his position on this issue. The quick death of an unborn soul does not rank as high in creating evil karma as much as the greater statistical probability that a poor woman raising an unwanted child does. Think of it. A poor South Dakota woman is raped. She hates this child ruining two lives instead of just one. Plus the possibility that the child may grow up to be a Jeffrey Dahmer type guy is just an added bonus.
But hey obviously since we didn't get these people then maybe we should just persue the moronic idea of giving amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, and while we are at it just give free health care too.
See?
Lord, It's a wonderful day for an Apocalypse!
