1. The BushBots say it's impossible to check all containers
Yet China does. Maybe they should run our ports since they are capable of doing the impossible.

2. The technology is here in the US to actually check every
container...The company is based in CA and someone on DU actually talked to a guy that worked there. Basically Fema turned the company and the technology away....

3. You know, by the time the shipments are off our coast, it's
already too late to do anything about it. Remote detonation anyone?

4. Yeah, but you're missing the point.
You've first got to allow terrorism to happen to be strong against it. :eyes:

The point is this: leave all avenues open, you never know when you are going to need an explosion and deaths to start calling the democrats anti-American, terrorist lovers that take glee in counting the bodies of the dead.

5. Kerry has been making that point since 2002, and no media cared to discuss
it then or throughout the campaign, even though he brought it up at nearly every speech he made in 2003 and 2004.

6. If we quit screwin' with people we wouldn't have to worry about it.
Even if we searched 100% of the cargo they can still get a nuke in....and it only takes one.
I don't know how they'll do it, but the fact that tons of cocaine show up on the streets every year tells me it can be done.

If only they taught diplomacy as a required course with that Yale MBA.

7. Tell Lou to make sure to put an Arab in the video for that story
Or else nobody will give a damn. Like they haven't given a damn for the last 4 years.

9. $1 billion dollars....
Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 12:37 PM by CATagious
Last night I saw Sen. Schumer say that it would cost $1 billion (or $2 billion, I don't quite remember) to put a nuclear detector on every crane in every port in the nation. That way every cargo container would be checkd for any nuclear material. The Dems. had tried to get the funding to do just this but the Repugs only allowed $50 million! Certainly 1 or 2 billion dollars is alot of money, but not in comparison to what we are spending in Iraq or the amount of the tax cuts to the rich. This should be a major issue for Dems during campaigns! Repugs care more about their rich friends than they do about homeland security. Hammer that point home!

13. They would be able to find 10x that much!
With enough left over for another tax cut and another bridge to nowhere.

11. Meanwhile, is anyone doing anything to track the loose
weapons left over from the old USSR? That would be too easy and too cheap.
