I was thinking, the worst sort of Dum Di Dum Dum* that posts on DU
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 02:24 PM by ...of J.Temperance
That would be those Dum Di Dum Dum's* that post from the view point that they're MEGA Far Left and almost fanatically attack the Democratic Party and Democratic politicians, and they do this day upon day, and they rack up their postings by posting in obscure forums on DU such as the Pets Forum or some similar forum. Then they post more Democratic Party and Democratic politicians bashing in GD or in GD: Politics....and the bashing, the often fanatical and relentless bashing is ALWAYS from the view point of them being MEGA Far Left. Example:

"So and so Democratic politician is no better than a Republican", "So and so Democratic politician isn't Liberal enough, so let's support their opponent in the primary even though their opponent is only on 18%", "The Democratic Party are sell-outs I'm not voting for them anymore", "The Democratic Party is dead".

Of course a lot of these Dum Di Dum Dum's* postings from the view point of the MEGA Far Left almost read like parodies of what the ACTUAL Far Left say.

The ACTUAL Far Left, though I disagree with them, I have no malice toward them and I like them posting on DU and I like attempting to have a debate with them and I also like our often having fisticuffs over issues. So this OP isn't directed toward those people, this OP is directed toward the wolves in sheep's clothing that offer nothing except day upon day of bashing the Democratic Party and Democratic politicians.

I'm sure that I'm not the only person on DU that's getting pretty annoyed by this, not only is it annoying, it's getting incredibly tedious wading through this tripe day upon day.

There's an important election this year, and it's an election that many DUer's are going to do their absolute best to assist in winning for our party, the Democratic Party.

To each and every one of the DUer's that value our party, the Democratic Party, I want to say this.

No matter what these disruptors who are posting here and bashing our party and our politicians and bashing them by pretending to be MEGA Far Left....no matter what you read from these Dum Di Dum Dum's*, do NOT let them get you down, do NOT let them dampen your spirit, do NOT let them squash your enthusiasm and do NOT let them make you think that the Democratic Party is dead.

Keep your chins up and your shoes shined :)

*Dum Di Dum Dum = it rhymes with pole and it can also rhyme with moll.

Moderators, I felt the need to post this OP, if it's out of order then you can delete it and I'll fully understand. I've not named any names in this OP, I don't need to.

Thanks.

On Edit: Dammit spelling error.

Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 02:14 PM by IsItJustMe
I'm just concerned about who is going to decide what is so called MEGA LEFT.

And some of these folks are letting off steam because they are pissed and frustrated at the bull that is going on. I may not agree with them, but many times I can feel their pain.

Keep in mind please: It's a big tent.

15. Pissed and frustrated - often!
I was doing OK until the Alito FIASCO. I'm still sick about it and boy did I express it.

Also -- if I can't let my hair down here, where can I? My whole family is on the "other side." sad.

I mean those that post almost parodies of what the actual far left think, and whilst doing that they go into Democratic Party bashing mode.

6. Read about it.
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 02:12 PM by wyldwolf
Though there are a number of those I consider "far left" that I respect on DU, many others come with a snowball viewpoint. They've read one person's opinion, added their own, repeated it enough times, and it is now "true."

I would suggest everyone here - far left, left/moderate, moderate, moderate conservative, etc., to get their hands on some books written about the Democratic party to get a better historical perspective of the party we all claim as "ours."

16. There's only one or two "true Democrats" left in the Senate, ya know?
After the bankruptcy bill vote, votes on Ashcroft, Rice, Alito, etc., and calls for purging the heretics and accusations of them not being "real Democrats" because of their votes, we're left with a real deficit for our side.

I read such a comment recently on DU. Of course as you say, if you deduct all of those who according to some aren't "real" Democrats, then we have what....four Senators?

24. The sad truth is that nearly every Congressperson is at least....
...a millionaire with no real understanding of what the rapidly shrinking middle class and rapidly growing lower class need to make themselves whole. They are much more concerned with protecting the rights of businesses to generate ever-increasing profits while constantly reducing their workforce, cutting benefits, and destroying pensions.

25. Valid point -- But when there are patterns it's a different matter
Speaking for myself, I can overlook those who occasionally act contrary to what I believe is "doing the right thing."

Byrd, for example, is a perplexing figure because IMO sometimes he seems so right and other times so wrong. He voted against the Patriot Powergrab Act, but supported Alito. So I have to conclude in his case that he is acting acording to his real principles, even though they may be somewhat quirky and erratic to me.

But the bigger issue are those Democrats who consistently seem to be on the wrong side, and/or consistently buckle to either take the "path of least resistance" or don;t act because they want to keep their already-dessicated powder dry.

Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 02:23 PM by twenty2strings
I for one, thought I was pretty far left, but when I took a political leanings test they categorized me as center left. The truth to me is that it is very hard to be a Democratic politician, especially in party balanced or right leaning districts. You have to act and sometimes vote in a way that is expedient in a long term view. I wouldn't want to do it,or sell used cars. And the fundraising, what a nightmare!

21. Tell you what, when certain Democrat politicians stop....
...supporting NeoCon points of view, I'll stop being critical of them. Lieberman and Biden are good examples of right-leaning Democrats...they piss me off every time they open their mouths. Hillary has also said some incredibly stupid things in public, and the dean of all Democrats, Byrd, voted for the new Bankruptcy Bill which is currently creating even more human misery.

Do I have to accept right-leaning Democrats without question just to make you happy? Or may I continue to exercise my quickly fading right to free speech until the NeoCons take that away, too?

From the OP

"they rack up their postings by posting in obscure forums on DU such as the Pets Forum or some similar forum."
This from someone who has racked up over 4,600 posts in 6 months.

In my YEARS as an active member of DU, I have a differing observation.
It seems to me that those who want to suppress reform in the Democratic Party suddenly appear from nowhere with 1000 posts.

I am a Democrat, and will continue to criticize the Democratic Party.
I don't expect the Republicans to represent the American Working Class.
I DO expect the Democrats to stand up for the average working American, and I WILL voice my opinion and observations in an attempt to salvage what is left of the once represenative Party of FDR, JFK, LBJ, and JCarter.

I want to congratulate the following Dems (and One Independent) for taking a stand agains the Anti-Democratic re-institution of the Patriot Act. (SEE, I'm PRAISING Democrats)

Daniel Akaka (D-HI),
Tom Harkin (D-IA),
Carl Levin (D-MI),
Jeff Bingaman (D-NM),
Ron Wyden (D-OR),
James Jeffords (I-VT),
Patrick Leahy (D-VT),
Patty Murray (D-WA),
Russ Feingold (D-WI),
Robert Byrd (D-WV).

The rest voted with Bush and against freedom.

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

Yes I've racked up over 4,600 posts, however all of those posts have been in the main forums....and I repeat, I've never bashed the Democratic Party.

I don't have to prove anything to you, people on DU know that I've defended my party and my party's politicians....the only one I cannot stand is Ben Nelson of Nebraska.

This from your post:

I want to congratulate the following Dems (and One Independent) for taking a stand agains the Anti-Democratic re-institution of the Patriot Act. (SEE, I'm PRAISING Democrats)

I am pretty far left these days and am becoming increasingly seditious. I am having a lot of trouble finding anything good to say about anyone or anything at the present time. Accordingly, I am fearful, I could be one of the people in danger of being made aware of their production of said offal. I am aware my stuff is rarely profound and frequently inane, but at the same time I would hope it is not that odious...

Cartoon starts out with Bluto hypnotizing Olive Oyl into saying "I love Bluto. I love Bluto." to Bluto.

Cartoon ends with Olive Oyl still hypnotized, but saying "I love Popeye. I love Popeye." to Popeye who doesn't bother to unhypnotize and free her.

Nice for Popeye and Bluto, not so hot for Olive Oyl. I always wondered if anyone ever finally got around to setting her free.

Just thought I'd throw that down right here. Sort of looked like a good place.
