UAE Port deal - behind the curtain
Lou Dobbs has mentioned a few questions about things that may or may not be behind the curtain - but as yet there are no answers.

We know that Snow and one other bush* appointee has connections with the UAE company. However, I suspect there's more going on behind the curtains - 2 bushie connections to UAE doesn't seem to be enough to warrant a Veto threat and bush* doing deficit-spending of his capital. If there are only 2 - it would be smarter to let them hang out to dry and "move forward"

We will need to dig deeper to find out why bush* is so adamant that this deal go through.

-- Why the Veto threat? He hasn't vetoed anything yet. Seems like an awfully big stick to swing over what they are poohing-poohing as a simple matter of "biddness"

-- Why do deficit-spending of political capital to shove this through? Why is the UAE deal so important to the bushies?

-- bush* says he didn't know about the deal. Assume he didn't know about the deal - then why the big push/veto threat over something he didn't know about? I could understand the push/veto if bush* had taken a few days to "investigate" and educate himself about it -- but the push/veto crap came too quickly on the heels of the story breaking to allow time to do an ivestigation. This leaves me to believe - he did know about it and the bushies have a bigger stake in the deal.

we're back to what did he know and when did he know it

1. Why the Veto threat? That is the biggest tell tale to this whole deal
If bu$h wasn't so set to veto any action blocking the deal, you could buy that he didn't hear about it until it made the news.
He or his friends are behind this for some big $$$$$$$$$. And he knew ahead of time who and what. Most likely he is set to make something as well.

5. I do not think this saving face and not hearing about it is so good.
Getting more and more to the point that the man does not know what is going on at all. Like his father being out of the loop and we have pictures of him setting in on these meeting with RR. He is having trouble having it both ways.

3. might not be that much of a tin-foil idea
with the "show of force" (i.e. veto threat) and bush*'s "resolve" to shove this deal through (even though he just heard about it)..

it leaves us to ask who benefits from deal?

:tinfoilhat: are there lobbyists behind it? How much money is changing hands? Rove-threats to sit down and shut-up? A few HIGH-RANKING republicans have flipped on their original stance, and a few more are edging in that direction -- did someone "get" to them?

most of the RW blather heads are more concerned with the impact on the nov. midterms than they are with the deal and our national security...

the bushies have pretty much said they would spend their time "educating congress and the public" about the deal than doing a comprehensive investigation... so where are the priorities? Saving their butts, sealing a deal, or securing our ports/borders?

4. I am thinking how fast the military came into the issue--how Franks and
Pace were quoted as saying they use the port. I do not know how vital that port is compared to others in the area that are used by our military.

6. Question? Did any one see the guy from AL? He was great.
He seemed to know just what to ask and made all those guys look like fools. Frank MA was pretty good also. The gay from Al. who was a R. just mowed them down.
