Bush Admits Bin Laden's Tape Helped * Defeat Kerry
Apologies again it's Sludge and another :puke: alert

http://www.drudgereport.com/flash3wsa.htm

President Bush now says his 2004 victory over Sen. John Kerry, who is mulling a comeback in 2008, was inadvertently aided by al Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.

And Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, who steadfastly refused to defend Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth when he ran Bush’s campaign, now calls them “heroes” who played a crucial role in vanquishing Kerry.

Bill Sammon, Senior White House Correspondent for the WASHINGTON EXAMINER, scores another exclusive for Tuesday editions with explosive excerpts from his new book, STRATEGERY.

For the first time, the president says he was helped by bin Laden, who put out a videotaped diatribe against Bush the Friday before the 2004 election.

Bush said there were “enormous amounts of discussion” inside his campaign about the 15-minute tape, which he called “an interesting entry by our enemy” into the presidential race.

1. Whatever
It was the computer voting machines that did it. He's just trying to divert attention from that little detail.

15. You would think it would take votes away
After all, it was a reminder that Osama is still around after we started a war in Iraq.

18. In a sane world, yes. But the media spun it as Bin Laden endorsing Kerry,
completely ignoring the actual message of the tape.

The top American bin Laden expert agrees. Professor Bruce Lawrence, head of Duke University's religious studies department, has just published a book of translations of bin Laden's speeches. He says that the recent tape is a fake and that it is possible bin Laden is not even alive.

Fake bin Laden tapes, "verified" by the CIA, are nothing new. Every supposed bin Laden statement since 2001 has been blatantly bogus. The last we heard from the real bin Laden came in his post-9/11 statements to Pakistani journalists: "I stress that I have not carried out this act, which appears to have been carried out by individuals with their own motivation. ... I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States. ... I had no knowledge of these attacks."

7. What a barf feast this is!
To this crap we must add the shameful role played by the NY Times for sitting on the NSA spying story in order to not affect the election. What a pathetic spectacle!

12. Agreed!!!
It is a national travesty our "liberal media" sat on all of the news stories(that started coming out conveniently AFTER the election) that could've SUNK Bush's chances for re-election, supposedly for fear of interfering with the election(NEWS FLASH!!! IT'S NOT THE PRESS' JOB TO PROTECT BUSH OR THE COUNTRY FROM KNOWING THE TRUTH!!!!). Of course, our "liberal media" certainly did not feel a similar need to restrain their negative coverage of Kerry (especially in relation to the "Swift Boat Veterans").

19. And Russert-Matthews- Carville-Miller-Cooper who all KNEW Rove outed Plame
but let GOP operatives INSIST that the WH was innocent and that Joe Wilson was lying throughout 2004. And that's just the short list.

They all knew for 17 MONTHS BEFORE THE ELECTION.

20. Let's show some more pictures of Kerry windsurfing
but don't let people know that the NSA is spying on all of us, or that those that dared to challenge the regime's claims about WMDs are being outed, or threatened, or reprised against.

John Kerry was eating Vietnamese babies while Bush was serving honorably in... where in the fuck was our Kommandant-in-Chief?

8. You have got to be kidding me with this quote . .
“I thought it was going to help,” decided. “I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn’t want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush.”

Moron -- Of course he wants you to be President!!!!!!!! You are the best thing that has ever happened to that man. It's amazing that we have a President who can't understand a pretty-straightforward use of reverse psychology.

engineered the whole thing. They were betting that the proles would fall for it. They won the bet.

11. Now that's something to brag about.....
A tape of dubious sources of who we are supposed to hate like Emmanuel Goldstein gets aired by the compliant mainstream media and is spun as voting for Bush is the only way to stop terror. To vote for Kerry is to vote for Emmanuel Goldstein, or Osama...

The fact that self-hating homosexual Mehlman finds solace in the liars that comprised Swift Boat Vets for victory is at best disgusting.

They knew the election was going to be stolen and that Americans were scared shitless from the Inside Job with the events of 911. But Project For A New American Century is where the Ship of Corruption must sail...and they were willing pirates to steer America in the wrong direction.

However, the truth will sink these ship of fools. Soon...

17. Their distortions of the campaign in this are pathetic
They are still trying to reinforce some of the RW lines - that made no sense.

The treatment here of the ammo dumps left ungarded is totally untrue. Kerry was actually winning on this because many people understood what happened. Conventional weapons that were already under lock and key by the IAEA were left ungarded for over a month and were being used for bombs. I can't believe they are trying again to conflate conventional weapons (already in our control) and WMD and to say Kerry couldn't fight the war because he was against it to begin with.

What I wonder (if they didn't create the tape) is how long they had it before they dumped it on us in the last week of the election. Mehlman's comments on the SBVT is sickening - so now the liars are all former POWs?
