Phony ranch, canned hunts, careless shooting, womanizing
Wake up red America, these people are not good ol' boys and they're not your neighbors.

4. Does Cheney even pretend to be a Christian?
I don't think he gives a flip what anybody thinks of him, and besides, he worships power and money.

3. They Should Be Raked over the Coals on "Canned Hunting"
I don't expect them to give the animal a fighting chance
(then Republicans might become an endangered species :-)
but a running-away chance isn't too much to ask. Is it?

I think even most hunters would agree.

6. Yes they would
Not so much pity for the animals, but rather disdain for anybody who pretended to call it hunting.

7. "road hunting"
I've been harping on that since the first report. I'm glad somebody has finally picked it up. The article brings up alot of other good points too, like the time and the fact that the quail would have flown away with the first shot. I wonder if this was just a flat out reckless discharge of a weapon, no hunting involved.

10. I mean at the actual time of the shot
They jumped out of the car to shoot the quail, shot the first one, headed back to the car and the gun went off. The guy was in really really bad shape, maybe he was shot at a much closer distance than what they're saying.

27. Most likely
and he was probably drunk on his ass also. These pretend macho assholes can't do anything with out getting tanked up first-proves their manhood for them. Sounds to me like assault with a deadly weapon. A year in the Corpus Christi Kenedy County Jail would probably satisfy me.

12. I think he did
Somebody said he went dove hunting, or some such, and brought back a killdeer, which I guess is as lame as him claiming to be a rancher. My husband used to hunt, I never have, so I can't say much about it for certain. But yeah, Bush has hunted.

13. Womanizing?
When two men and two women hunt, and no one is married, it is "womanizing". So this meme is saying that women can't do anything with men without being "sluts".

Hello? Where ya' been? Most married men do not go hunting with women, especially unmarried women and especially not the Vice-President.

16. It comes straight from most of America
The vast majority of married Americans do not go on trips with single people of the opposite sex, period. They certainly don't send their husbands off on hunting trips with single women, or vice versa. You can call it anything you want, I really don't care, that's the way most people live their lives. You don't want to, you don't have to. Doesn't change the fact that most people do.

22. I know women who hunt with men that

they are not married to but only day hunts, not staying some place overnight together. Of course there may be no hanky panky here but any politician who'd put himself in this situation is inviting speculation. With what we now know about the extramarital affairs of FDR, Ike, JFK, LBJ, and, of course, Bill Clinton, how could we not speculate? (Are the freepers' heads exploding?)

Kissinger said power is the ultimate aphrodisiac and those of you old enough to remember the Nixon years will remember that Kissinger, who was pretty gnarly looking even then, married a beautiful, much younger woman.

24. I know singles who hunt with singles
I know married groups where some take the wives and some don't, occasionally an additional family member or some such. But I've never known married buddies going off without their wives, to do anything with other women, single and/or without their husbands. Unless it's business or a charitable event. Apparently the lawyer guy who was shot isn't a hunting buddy of Cheney's either, so it isn't even like a bunch of old friends got together.

I'm betting the local cops reported what they were told. Everybody had lots of time (the most conniving minds in the White House had an overnighter, I'm sure).

Where, oh where, is the Swiss Miss?

21. The "official account" is full of holes.
SS did not let the duputies interview Cheney right away - standard procedure in ANY shooting incident, accidental or otherwise.

Why did Mrs? Armstrong say that she thought that Cheney might be having heart problems when she saw the SS running toward the scene? She supposedly was an eyewitness to the whole event so she should have known right away that Cheney shot the guy.

And how did Mrs. Armstrong know that Whittington did not signal to Cheney that he was moving up behind him. Wasn't she some distance away sitting inside a car?

Why did Cheney flush out the second covey of quail instead of waiting for Whittington to rejoin him? I am not a bird hunter, but common sense says you would keep a hunting party together to avoid the possibility of an accident. A hunting party usually works the cover together with strict rules about who is going to take the shot, depending on which way the quail flies. Either Cheney isn't the experienced hunter he claims, or the accident didn't "happen" the way they said. Personally I think that Cheney accidentially discharged his gun, probably because he was walking with the safety off.

Circumstantial evidence for this version is that they waited so long to report the story to the press and not allowing the deputies to interview Cheney the same evening.

If the guys injuries were so slight, why wasn't he treated and released instead of spending almost 2 days in intensive care? It makes a difference, because a close range shooting would go along with more serious injuries and also fit in more with an accidental discharge rather than the official version of getting hit by the pattern thirty yards away.

many of the others in the group that day were ALSO poaching????? Probably the whole goddam lot of them. They are a bunch of scofflaws, and this is just more par-for-the-course crap AFAIAC.

Laws are for the Little People, dontcha know?
